Maroon Mayhem
A very informative article for those still smarting from the Sandy Clark penalty claim! http://www.thepink.org.uk/News/bill%20crombie.htm Back closer to home and Gorgie born Bill, a lifelong Hearts fan, took charge of seven Edinburgh derbies. When pressed for the overall results he gladly responded quickly "Five for Hibs and two for Hearts!". Being a jambo was particularly heartbreaking for Bill as he took the whistle for the league decider at Dens Park in 1986 when a draw for Hearts would have secured the Premier League title. The Gorgie side eventually went down 2-0 and Celtic took the league. Bill's recollection of the game is vivid "I've watched the game several times and there wasn't any really contentious moments. There was a penalty claim early on in the game for Hearts but having looked at it again and again I don't know. What I do know is that one of my sons, a staunch Hearts supporter, never spoke to me for a year after that match. No kidding."
