Best TW Not sure about the stuff 50 years ago, It does sound that it's connected mind you. More recently, the phrase Gorgie Rules Apply has been on stickers flags and such. I'm guessing "Gorgie Rules!" is sang/chanted because it's easier to fit into a chant.

NRJ1966
It's short for Gorgie Rules Apply. I'm guessing it's a statement which implies you shouldnae break the rules That's interesting for all these last 40 odd years I just thought Gorgie Rules was just a term meaning Gorgie rules above all other areas or gangs etc. I didn't know there were actual rules. On an unrelated note the term "ya bass" is thought to derive from the Gaelic phrase "Buaidh No Bas" which means "Victory or Death" or Aigh Bas meaning "Fight and Die"... not short for ya barsteward which was what I originally thought many years ago. sjh1874
Been chanted at Tynecastle for years. Perhaps those sensitive souls could now draft a charter for all fans and call it the "Gorgie Rules" It could outline was is acceptable to say, sing, wear and how exactly you are expected to behave in and around association football in 2015. Would be spiffing as its all terribly confusing.
Son Of Anarchy
So what exactly are the rules? Gorgie Rules as in we were number 1 back then, not rules as in laws to be followed type rules. Tiberius Stinkfinger
"Rule Gorgie" as it was originally penned dates back to a poem penned by James Thomson and set to music by Thomas Arne in 1740. Over the years it has evolved into the fine put down employed by traditional Hearts supporters, especially prominent at the very popular flag burning ceremonies. Gorgie Rules. Nookie Bear
The term Gorgie Rules was used long before these kids were born so no idea why you have a problem with it. It's just a phrsase, sometimes used threateningly, sometimes used matter-of-factly and sometimes by kids trying to look hard. The kids are the problem here, not 'Gorgie Rules'
st1874
Why does everything have to be about a certain group of young kids? They might be bangers, but hanging about their social media accounts all day? Phrase was about before they were born anyway, and probably most of us here, it belongs to all associated with HMFC and for me it means we are the best. Simple as that. Generic Username
Creepy that the club have asked people for these names/Twitter accounts/videos/screen shots No wait, no it's not. It's precisely how you go about identifying the morons correctly, whilst being able to give evidence for the reason why you're taking whatever action is deemed necessary. Dull yin for the old bigots as the bairns they hang around with on a match day get a shoe'ing from the club.
