Rooney played for Hearts in their last game. McCabe is the ex Rangers player. Wallace is ex Hearts. Hopkirk also played a few games for Hearts U20s three or four years ago.

Refs conspiracy starts. Stonewall penalty appeal turned down after Zanatta felled.

How does Zanatta look FF? Anywhere near making the first team bench?

Some nice touches but lacking support so chances few and far between.

Goal chalked off from Zanatta. Keeper spilled ot but ref says he knocked it out his hands.

Hearts on top now.

On top but 2 down. Sounds about right.

Ford Robertson

Just in from Game. Two central defenders poor. Stonewall penalty denied and goal chalked off for no reason, we'll beat in the end.

more not physically developed or match sharp enough to stop the goals but otherwise show promise like the whole team

the way things are these days, they'll all leave by mutual consent in a couple of years so no really worth bothering about

Hearts struggled for the first 20 minutes to get into the game.  The home side scored inside three minutes then missed two or three decent  chances to extend their lead, particularly an air shot from Wallace then Mason saved well from Byrne.

The period before half time was much more even with Hearts at least seeing some of the ball in the Pars half.  Callumn Morrison looked out biggest threat but Zanatta was isolated for much of the time.

Hearts had a penalty appeal turned down early in the second half when Dario Zanatta was barged in the back as he was closing in on goal but the ref waved play on. Oddly, the protests about the decision seemed to put captain  Liam Smith off his game as first he gave the ball away to Thomas in front of goal, but the forward struck his shot straight at Mason, then Hopkirk then nutmegged him, and a short time later Liam gave a cheap free kick away when he and Kelby Mason got their communication wrong.

Rooney missed a good chance to put the Pars two up, but Hearts were starting to look much more threatening.  With 10 mins left Zanatta made a good run down the left, cut inside, played a one-two with Nathan Flanagan at the edge of the box. However his touch was a little heavy, allowing the keeper to dive on the ball, but he looked to have spilled the ball without Zanatta touching him which allowed Zanatta to knock the ball into the net. The ref however decided that  Dario had knocked the ball out his hands.  Jack Ross didn't seem to happy with the officials.

With 5 minutes left, Hearts got hit with a sucker punch from a free kick on the edge of the box, that Ryan Wallace floated in for Thomas to head home from six yards.  Once again we looked pretty poor at defending the set piece as Thomas wasn't the biggest, yet still managed to beat our defenders.

Zanatta did have one more chance with a header from a Flanagan corner but the keeper saved well.

Overall not the best performance with few players getting pass marks, Morrison and Zanatta being the exceptions.
