It's football for connoisseurs, mate.

As Derek Rae, the much respected commentator, put it..."Serie A...the true university of football"

It's measured in far greater things than "shots on target", which is why our football is tripe, possibly.

Wise words indeed Boab.

Not watched Italian football for years, when I watched it you normally got a "and there's some unsavoury incidents in the crowd" from the commentator and the camera would pan in on the boxing for about 10 minutes.

Back in the Channel 4 days, mate ?

Used to love watching that Milan team.....outstanding !

James Richardson then and James Horncastle now make the viewing spectacle much better with their knowledge of the Italian game.

Watched the Inter game last night, Felipe Melo  Always been a headcase hasn't he? Looked like he was at least showing some remorse after his dropkick on Biglia.

Going to be a very interesting 5 months. 5 teams genuinely in contention but Juve will be favourites now.

Should be an interesting mercato.

I'm not sure Fiorentina are good enough to mount a serious challenge but they have been very impressive when I have watched them this season.

Roma seem to have gone backwards over the last couple of months, really hope Garcia can turn it round and challenge but I suspect they too will come up a bit short.

Between Juve and Napoli IMO.

La Viola are quietly going about their business and playing some good stuff.

The big games win Leagues however and they failed their big tests so far.

Juve looking good again.

Iturbe on loan to Watford. Can see some other players departing so if they can replace these with quality and possible the manager as well Roma could challenge. As it stands top three would be good.

Just as well Juanma wasn't involved.

Some on here would be on the phone to Police Scotland.

Mentalist but not a bad player.....

Let you work out which one....

or both.

  • 2 weeks later...

Managed about 10 seconds of football before the stoppage to clear the flares. Should be a good game if it ever gets going.

Garcia must be one result away from the chop. Even with this depleted squad. SES would be a handy addition however.

Looks like the end of Garcia today. Spalletti to maybe make a return?

Looks a done deal going by reports.

Garcia had to go really, players...very good ones....not performing.

Spalletti asking the fans for support.

Will be interesting to see how the Roma UltraS react as their dispute with the fence fiasco is still ongoing.

Can see some kind of "truce".

In true betting style, waited till Napoli went behind before punting a home win !

Not fussed if it doesn't come up as Sass are a great team.

If I had a house I would have it and my granny's on Juve at 1.6 tomorrow night. As much as it sickens me they will steamroll Roma.

Can anyone stop the Juve revival ?

Stranger things have happened but my money's staying in my pocket tonight....Roma are not ready for this challenge yet....they could crumble.

Di Rossi has now apologised to Mandukic after being caught on camera calling him " a damn gypsy " in the bad-tempered game on Sunday night.

When Di Rossi was asked if he could learn from Cassano by covering his mouth he said "he is a black belt master at this".

Getting fed up the commentator or more specifically the co-comm giving Ballotelli grief - I thought he was very respectful in his celebrations against a 4th tier team.

He is Just coming back from a long layoff so is short of match sharpness - oozes class when he is fit in body and mind.

Agendas to the fore.

Agree, I know we all love the underdog but this co-commentator might as well be wearing an Alessandria shirt  In general he's been very quick to criticise Milan and praise Alessandria for every little thing.
