He couldn't help but mention how we gained some sort of advantage over Hibs by already being relegated though.

In the interests of balance, it was probably a fair statement. Overall he comes across quite fairly in a decent article.

very good article

Hearts have done so well that writers can't be anything other than positive

but it is a good article - even saying Hearts have the advantage on getting the best youngsters

No doubt inspired by his son being approached by Hearts.

Then his son wanting to play for Hearts.

Such is the folly of parenthood

It really is a pish excuse anyway, Hibs playoff defeat was just over 2 weeks after Budge took over, you'd think by the way this gets trotted out that Hearts had months to plan for the championship but we couldnt do anything until the foh/budge offer was voted through by the creditors

and the second part of that paragraph:

"? and then it took time for [Hibs]' untried manager to find his feet and his best team, by which point Hearts had amassed a formidable lead"

In other words, the also untried Robbie did not, unlike Stubbs, need any time to find his feet and his best team :verysmug:

I guess we were just lucky getting Robbie with his 6 years experience of working in coaching in the EPL at a major club.

Oops, that was Stubbs wasn't it?

Silly me.

How can the fact Hibs spent their summer like a rudderless turd be used against us for the excellent way we went about our business??

An ok article that tries but doesn't quite succeed to disguise the author's underlying bitterness.

Not every article that is positive about Hearts is good, nor is every negative one badly written. As this goes to prove.

Buffalo Bill

Pat Butcher's demise happened around March/April, they got relegated in May so they knew for MONTHS that changes had to be made. Other than that daft Petrofac Cup, the season started in August. So WTF were doing all the time that "Hearts had months to prepare"?

Anyway, a decent article for Smith. He must've been choking on his skinny latte writing that! :)

Spot on. Smith clearly felt under an obligation to grudgingly admit that we've gone about our business in an exemplary way. It reads like every key stroke was forced, though.

While Hearts have wasted no time this season, their main rivals, Rangers and Hibs, have done exactly that....

Rangers didn't "waste time" - they just weren't good enough.

As for Hibs - well , he trots out the same crap as Stubbs.

What seems to be forgotten by all that think we had some sort of 'prepared for relegation' advantage is that we could plan or do absolutely nothing until the CVA was agreed and signed.

That's the best description for H1b5 in a long time.

I hope his wee lad comes to us, does well and enjoys it.

Then his dad has to come to Tynecastle every fortnight and cheer us on, while one of our players wears 'A. Smith' on his back. :pleasing:

That's just not true though. I think the speed and professionalism that Hearts went about appointing quality coaches, then quality players very quickly after admin was over tells us that Ann Budge and her people, including CL, had been planning for months in advance.

Correct. If Rangers or Hibs were less prepared than us, it was because they chose to be.

His father was a Hearts man, there was obviously some foreign DNA at work for the family team to skip a generation.

Hibs were in shock for at least a month after they got relegated and they forgot to regroup. They were completely unprepared mentally for the Championship - in that respect we got the jump on them.

Butcher should have been sacked the day after the Hamilton game, instead they waited two weeks.

But all of that is just bad management on their part and does not hide the fact we have completely bossed this league from Day One.

My issue with this new myth - the "tell everyone we were under prepared but now we're the best team in the league" one - is that even discounting the start of the season, lets be generous and say the first 10 games, we're still a better team than Hibs - scored more, conceded less and amassed more points. Its just another comfort blanket!!

Then we have their cup "success" they've played no one to reach the semi final and even that's against championship opposition, we on the other hand got dumped by Celtic twice!

Exactly which makes what Hearts even more impressive. New staff all over the club as well. Hearts were starting off from a very difficult situation.

It tell's you everything you need to know that a few grudgingly positive words in the local press is worthy of a thread on here. The distance Hearts have come and the way that has been achieved would have spawned a multitude of gushing if it had happened across the city. It didn't though despite the attempt to talk up hibs inconsistent season.  :pleased:

Results in 2015 only.

Hearts: 28 points from 11 games

Hibs: 24 points from 11 games

Shame they got started late, though.

He is off the mark with the comment that greater compassion may have been in order re the changes that were made. There is no room for fannying about. The plans were in place and everything was done efficiently. They can talk of the day of long knives but it was rubbish. Look at the results. The changes have been wholly vindicated and , hey ho, Locke bounces back.

This is a massively impressive stat from the BBC article:

"On average, Hearts score 2.89 goals per game, and the team with the next highest scoring ratio in the UK's senior leagues is Bournemouth with 2.08."

It sometimes seems our achievements this year have been played down due to the league we're in, but to be the most free scoring team in all of British football by quite a way is some achievement. It shows that it can't be that easy to do what we've done this year - otherwise everyone would be doing it. We've also done it with only the third biggest budget in our league.
