Finished 1-1.

Pretty poor game with little threat up front from Hearts.

Spartans went ahead after 30 seconds with a headed goal from a right wing cross.

Hearts were level after just three minutes. Nathan Flanagan put in a cross from the right that was headed goalwards by Dale Baxter, but the keeper tipped the ball over the bar. From the resultant corner. Nathan Flanagan crossed low for Daniel Baur to flick the ball into the net.

The rest of the half went by with little incident. The closest to a goal coming from a Nathan Flanagan free kick that defected off the wall and away from the keeper into the path of Ally Roy, but a defender made a great block as Ally tried to knock the ball into into the unguarded net.

The second half almost started as the first. Within 45 seconds, Kelby Mason tipped a shot from the edge of the box onto the bar, in what was the save of the night.

Six minutes into the half, Spartans again hit woodwork, this time with a shot from 25 yards the struck the base of the left hand post.

The rest of the game was a pretty scrappy affair with was broken up by regular substitutions.  Both sides ended up with really young sides, with Hearts sub Andy Irving at 14 being the youngest.
