"Raising legal action against referees isn't welcome in football" Er...says who? I'm quite sure that there are many hundreds of thousands of football fans who might disagree with that. It might not be welcomed by the feckless slugs up there in the UEFA offices but that's just hard cheese. If they were governing refs and their decision making properly, clubs wouldn't be driven to the point of seeking help from the courts in the first place. Letting Celtic win would really get it up der hun, and also Gordhun Smith, and there's nothing they could do about it because the old firm have fielded weakened teams on last days of the season for years. As for David Taylor, UTD didn't take this action for the headlines, they have taken this action because McCurrie's 'huge' mistakes could have cost them over ?100,000 and also a European place - which might not be a great deal to Rangers but is to them. As said previously the SFA should simply make a statement saying that in future, if a Ref makes a serious blunder they will be domoted for a number of games. If that drives some refs out of the game then so be it. Even if that means using inexperienced refs that might not be up to scratch yet - wont be any worse that we got already! What Uefa are saying is they are protecting corruption the decisions at Ibrox were not mistakes they were deliberate. The proof is in DeVries's goal the ref took ages to call it a goal he was desperate to try and find something to chalk it off for, a point noted my the DU players themselves. So how can refs ever be accountable if there is no mechnism for exposing wrong doings? Uefa let Italy away with since the dawn of time so asking them to care about provintial clubs in Scotland is like asking them to pick a jobby up by the clean end. Exactly they are 2 diferent points players cheating is bad enough but when it is refs then it is match fixing and that should be taking into account by the Law courts as well as Uefa.
