Managerial Vacancy: Dunedin Athletic Football Club

Dunedin Athletic Football Club are a well established, professionally run, Saturday amateur football side.

We would like to invite suitable applications for a new Manager of the Club to take over full responsibility for managing/coaching the team from the beginning of the 2014/2015 Season.

About the Club

Dunedin Athletic have existed in various forms since the late 1990?s and is a well respected, highly organised established Club, with a current playing squad of 23 players.

The Club plays in the Saturday afternoon section of the LEAFA organisation ? currently sitting mid-table in the Edinburgh East division.

Regularly finishing in the top 5 ?fair-play? league tables of the whole LEAFA set up, we are widely thought of as a professionally run, sociable and welcoming team. The current playing squad consists of an excellent core group of guys who have now played together for a few years - with a huge potential to progress and improve.

The foundations of the Club are already in place, with a Treasurer who operates the funds via electronic bank transfer, a home park agreement with Edinburgh Leisure (Drumbrae Leisure Centre), training facilities in place (Royal High School Edinburgh) and an existing Committee who will be supporting the implementation of a new Management set up.

The Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic coach with the skills and ability to coach a successful football team.

The successful candidate will have one or more of the following:

· Proven history of coaching a football team or qualifications related to football coaching

· A playing career which suggests the potential to be a successful Manager/Coach

· A willingness to integrate with the current Managerial set up to allow an effective handover for next season (essential).

Contact & applying

If this sounds like something you?d be interested in - please get in touch, via email in the first instance with a short paragraph about yourself, your football history and why you think you?d be the ideal person/people to take the Club forward. Please include details of any formal football coaching qualifications and information you think relevant here. If you have any questions, please let us know. We will respond to all.

Please send email enquiries and applications through to Craig Purves, Club Captain [email protected]

It's good that you don't take yourselves too seriously.

Christ, there should be hundreds of applicants from here, given the amount of armchair Mourinhos we seem to have on the Terrace!

Why are you not promoting from within your current ranks?

I think every amateur team I ever played with had to take that approach as it's amateur football at the end of the day, an unpaid hobby so the best candidate for the job is the guy willing to give up 2 nights a week for training and most of his Saturday!

4-4-2, keep the shape at all times, full backs on the throw ins and and get a centre half who can attack and win every ball!

Simples!
