Shanks said no Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I always thought so but still remember when he was found guilty and I mentioned it to a local from there. He very straight faced said "Mitchell didn't do it" but would say no more. Quote

Neilson's Shank Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Strange case, is it normal for a mother to burn a set of clothes rather than washing them. Justasking Quote
Getintaethem Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Beggars belief that 100 forensic samples weren't tested at the time of the trial. Wether Mitchell is guilty or not, the whole case was definately not L&B's police's finest hour. Quote
Ribble Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 For some reason I'm not entirely convinced that Mitchell was guilty. Me either tbh, no doubting that Mitchell is a horrible human being but I still have difficulty in believing that a 14/15 yr old boy could carry out such a brutal murder and yet leave not a scrap of physical evidence. That may of course had more to do with the competency of Lothian and Borders finest than the guilty party being a master criminal! Quote

Wether Mitchell is guilty or not, the whole case was definately not L&B's police's finest hour. The case was handled very badly by L&B. Crime scene left uncovered overnight allowing rain to wash away any forensic evidence, allowing the council to empty the bins even though the murder weapon was never found. Quote
ToYouToMe Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Not sure what to make of this one. I find the fact that he found the body a bit too coincidental though. And given that stranger murders are very rare I can see why the police focused on him. But look at that case on the news the other day when the boyfriend served time for murder and he was innocent. Will be interesting to see how it develops. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Quote

Jamboelite Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) I've never really spent a lot of time looking over the claimed evidence and stories from all on this case but if L&B didnt do their job an more evidence has either come to light or needs checked then it should be. Just cause you're a strange cookie doesnt make you a murderer look at that weird landlord who everyone said was guilty as a very basic example. If he is guilty though then he deserves to rot. Tommy Brown Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Splendid, an opportunity for our resident forensic and legal experts to shine once more. Always ends up a real car crash and amusing all the same. But the locality of this is too close and personal to many on here to be taken lightly (so please be thoughtful in your posts) Always thought a young boy turned killer without a shred of evidence was uncomfortable. I really wish it could be proven. The circumstantial eveidence was certainly pointing at him. Back in the 90's there was an English schoolgirl brutally murdered in france on a school trip in her hotel. The killer wascaught about 10 years later, a tramp with no connections or motive whatsoever (so it can happen). Edited September 9, 2013 by salecc Quote
