PM Questions

Watching this live on Sky News. What a deplorable farce

Their one chance each week to scrutinise the Government and half the time is spent by the Speaker telling them to stop shouting. At least 10 times he has stood up in the last 10 mins to tell them to shut up.

I know it's nothing new but really, how can any reforms and bills be put through if its a contest of who can shout the loudest.

Question Time is a sideshow. The proper work is done in committee.

In fairness the BBC said the mics are directed meaning only the noise directed at it are heard, but that is only for recordings. The reason he shouts, according to Nick Robinson, is because it is a wall of noise no one can hear.

Thought both sides were again poor. Thought Cameron lost it, crimson tide showed and he lost all ability to sound reasonable or constructive. At least more backbenchers are given a chance than in Holyrood. Then again at least you can hear the drivel at Holyrood. And GK is right, Committees do the biggest amount of real work and scrutiny. Same everywhere these days.

PMQ's is not, and never has been, the only opportunity for scrutiny of government. It's not even an opportunity, tbh. Even more so since Blair's changes to its structure. Pantomime, and nothing more.

Its like an episode of Jeremy Kyle. Posh tw*ts on both sides trying to out-common each other.
