JamboX2 Posted June 28, 2013 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Just posting this for anyone who has an interest in matters legal, the most senior Scottish judge on the UK Supreme Court is set to retire. Lord Hope shaped a lot of modern Scots law through his decisions and also has had a big hand since assuming the Supreme Court seat on the development of Human Rights law, the changes in the Constitution, the creation of the Supreme Court from the old system in the Lords, and also on the shape and scope of devolution in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland by showing how legislative power they hold is of a level which mean courts cannot strike down their legislation (so long as they adhere to the devolved powers and human rights).
