Visa Debit Chargeback

If someone bought a season ticket using a Visa debit card, am I correct in thinking:

1. The buyer would still be protected if the worst happened to Hearts?

2. That Hearts would get the money quicker than if payment was made by credit card?

There's a bit on this link but I'm just checking the specifics.

I (stupidly) bought a bathroom from Dolphin a couple of years ago, but only paid a deposit by Credit Card.

They went bust a few days later, but because I paid by CC, I got the amount back.

It took ages to come through, about 10 months.

There was some debate about the cost of the entire sale being refunded, but that doesn't happen.

Using that as an example, the answer to 1) is yes.

2) I don't know.

Going by the article it looks pretty much that yes your point 1 is correct.

( I didn't realise it applied to any Visa debit card, I thought it might depend on your bank.)

On point 2, it might vary with different banks/providers, but I was speaking to a customer this week about credit card payments and he said their account gets credited the next morning.

For credit card you would get the entire cost of the product back. For debit cards, some banks subscribe to a voluntary code, which gives the same rights.

Those concerned can pay ?1.00 by credit card and the rest by cash. You get full cover and Hearts get almost all the moment quicker. If you are buying for a family member or friend, however, you may not be covered for their purchase.
