Carl Weathers
I was wondering if someone might be able to help... My cd and dvd drives both fail to detect most brands of blank discs - sony's seem to work for some reason (although not all the time). The problem seemed to occur after a pc shop removed Norton from my registry - unfortunately I didn't realise this quick enough to complain. Is there anything I can do or run to fix this problem? Carl Weathers
Get Norton back. It was raping my pc! It had to go. I wonder if the pc shop removed other stuff they shouldn't have.

Das Root
You should also use the Norton Removal Tool to ensure it's completely gone. Sometimes the uninstall leaves remnants that cause problems. http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
