Enjoyable Stories from the Old Chaps

Felt this was worth a wee discussion.

My Step-father has a whole load of funny stories about Hearts and Hibs and he's seen us win the league and both cups. He has also seen some unbelievably good players at Hearts.

Do you know the one story he told me that makes me smile the most though? It's about the days before segregation when he was a young man. Here's how it goes:

(In a gruff old voice)

"Well aye, the thing is, see before segregation back then, we were all in the ground together, son. Thing is though, you always knew who was a fellow Hearts supporter and who was a Hibs fan. You only had to wait until winter, we would all be standing there in overcoats and gloves with hip-flasks, while the Hibs fans were shivering away in light summer jackets and jumpers with bottles of cheap wine in their paws."

He's a good man my Step-father. :)

Very good, I remember going to Easter Road one New Year, possibly early 60's, we all managed to get our alcohol in without any problem but the two guys with mixers were stopped and had them taken off them!
