Bike advice (cycle)

Recommended Posts

Looking to get myself a new bike and wondered if anyone out there has any recommendations.

Looking for something for the road and able to cope with a wee bit of off road (canals paths etc nothing to bumpy)

Have entered the First Monster Loch Ness Duathlon (120k running and cycling:eek:) in Sept so need to get out on the road soon.

Budget of between ?400-600

If you are looking to do mostly roads and a bit of canal path then these are good,

I've used one (similar model) for commuting along the canal and through town.

If you are more into off road stuff then I'd go for something like this.

These are well under your budget but are very decent bikes.

or a Specialised Hardrock Sport - my has one and it seems fine

The Godfather

The triathlon shop on South Clerk St is worth going into. I had not been on bike in 15 years and picked up a Giant SCR 2 for ?500 in October to use on the Nears Years Day triathlon. Good bike but road use only.

Try online and pick up an 07 model if they still have any, get it about 50% off.

600 quid with 50% off will get you a cracking bike. Picked up a Commencal mini dh for 800 last year, its an excellent ride.

I got myself a Specialized TriCross 08 at the start of the year. It's the absolute dog's but cost me ?700.

If can find one in your range, you really should give it a try. I got mine at Evans Cycles and they seem to have sales as often as DFS.
