Boaby Ewing
Has anyone tried one of these?? These sheepshaggers at my work are going on about them...some kind of morning roll. Somewhere between a roll and a pastry, nice and salty and loaded with fat. Everything a Scotsman needs. Fire in aboot them, Aberdeen has the best ones by a long long way. Gershwin
Thain's all night bakery on George St (Aberdeen) - that's the place for your cheap butteries. And a 3am steak pie. And a pizza pie.

I P Knightley
Has anyone tried one of these?? These sheepshaggers at my work are going on about them...some kind of morning roll. Go to Aberdeen and ask for a roll and you'll get one of these beauties. Ask for a buttered roll and you'll get a buttery with butter on it. They honestly don't care about calories and cholesterol. If you're in Aberdeen and want a conventional roll, you have to ask for a "softy". I kid you not. They're that weird up there. And here is one of the badboys in question Can't you just smell the lard?
Banjoheed
Ask for a buttered roll and you'll get a buttery with butter on it. This is totally true. I was in a bakery in Torry once and asked for a bacon roll - they gave bacon on a buttery, complete with butter and sauce. Thought my heart was going to give up.
