Now... I have not subscribed to anything... has anyone recieved this kind of thing before?

Greetings,

I have been waiting for you since to contact me for your Confirmable

Bank Draft of 875,000.00 USD (Eight Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand

United States Dollars), but I did not hear from you since that time.

Then I went and deposited the Draft with FEDEX COURIER SERVICE, West

Africa. I travelled out of the country and I will not come back till end

of NOVEMBER 2008.

What you have to do now is to contact the FEDEX COURIER SERVICE as soon

as possible to know when they will deliver your package to you because

of the expiry date. For your information, I have paid for the delivery

Charge, Insurance Premium and Clearance Certificate Fee of the Check

showing that it is not a Drug Money or meant to sponsor Terrorist attack

in your Country.

The only money you will send to the FEDEX COURIER SERVICE to deliver

your Draft direct to your postal Address in your country is ($190.00 USD)

Dollars only being Security Keeping Fee of the Courier Company so far.

Again, don't be deceived by anybody to pay any other money except

$190.00 USD Dollars.

I would have paid that but they said no because they don't know when

you will contact them and in case of demurrage. You have to contact the

FEDEX COURIER SERVICE now for the delivery of your Draft with this

information bellow;

Contact Person: Timothy Stowe

Email Address: [email protected]

Finally, make sure that you reconfirm the details below:

1. FULL NAME

2. DELIVERY ADDRESS

3. DIRECT TELEPHONE NUMBER

Send all these details to them again to avoid any mistake on the

Delivery and ask them to give you the tracking number to enable you track

your package over there and know when it will get to your address.

Let me repeat again, try to contact them as soon as you receive this

mail to avoid any further delay and remember to pay them their Security

Keeping fee of $190.00 US Dollars for their immediateaction. You should

also let me know through email as soon as you receive your Draft.

Yours Faithfully,

Mrs. Cassandra Olievera

Secondly, you are going to be slated for being naive in this respect, so be careful in what you post in future.

The sender will be some big chap from NIgeria if thats a clue.

I may set up a duplicate profile for you in the meantime and empty your 250 quid a week wages from your account, but hey ho, at least it aint going to some Uganda'n.

I'm not buying it. I know you get the odd person that's stupid enough to fall for these scams, but I'm still not having it.

Isn't the advice not to reply to these at all?

Replying shows that the email address they've spammed 'n' scammed is active so I'd reckon you can probably expect a few more of these...or that's maybe just an urban myth I've been suckered into believing.

I reply to them all. They get the big GTF you theivin barstewards. But normally worse.

I haven't had any for a while.

Another one is to reply and say you are a Forensic Computer Expert with contacts high up in the Nigerian police who will come and chop your head off.

Again they dont tend to bother you again.

Guest GhostHunter
UPDATE - June 2006:

Just to give some additional information on John Boko. As I write, I have been in contact with "John" posing as a fellow scammer looking for work. John has just offered me a job as just one of several of his European representatives to help cash and transfer payments from scammed victims for him. I was offered between $2,000 and $3,000 per month just for the simple job of gathering victim's payments together and forwarding the money into his bank account.

During our conversations I John told me he was making around $45,000 a month on average from his various scams, ranging from standard 419 type scams to cheque and Credit Card fraud. His team consists of around 20 individuals located in various countries around the world. I was also able to discover the name and contact details of John's artist and managed to contact him to confirm he had indeed been paid for his work, although he wouldn't tell me how much he was paid!

I'm still in contact with John, who calls himself Tony, who incidentally just collected a $15,000 payment from one of his "guys" in Switzerland. Any information I can find will be handed over to the relevant authorities.

I hope to update this page a little more soon.

Says it all really.

I get about 20 of these a day in my junk email...quite amusing some of them, and at least it is a change up from the viagra spam!

Some of the poorer attemps are just comedy. People pretending to be from Royal Mail etc with a 800k cash prize...from Royal Mail??? In saying that, some are dangerous...some of the bank fraud ones could easily catch out people, some of the dummy websites are spitting images of the real thing. Thats the scary stuff.

WTF?

It is a scam, and the best thing you could have done is bounce the email back to them. By replying to them you have given them notification that they have got an email address which is presently in use, and you have indicated you are not happy that they are doing what they are doing. So being criminals there is a fair chance they will now try and dig a little deeper into your personal details by some other means.

Happens all the time in financial services, people, mainly based in West Africa , find details of company directors on Companies House website, then phone round all the banks/insurers indicating they have left the country, had a company account/pension plan, think it was with you, give you the brief information they have and hope that someone on a help desk somewhere will give them just a little bit of additional information which will help them achieve their end goal, get funds out of said policies or bank accounts.

Mr Romanov Saviour of HMFC

This is 100% genuine.

Give them all your details and all of your families details, honestly you won't regret it.

If you give them all your details Kolo Toure comes round to your gaff with only a football protecting his modesty and gives you a big man hug.

Go for it, you won't be let down.

Tell us how it goes Kearney. :)

I wonder if anyone who's still at school can tell me whether there is anything to do with 'internet safety' on the syllabus?

I work in computing, so am up to date with this, but there are an massive number of people with only a basic (at best) understanding of the internet.
