rossi_1983
Do you not know anyone that has a windows xp disk you can borrow? You have your own authorisation code so it will work fine You can probably download xp from torrents, but it will be a huge file so may get you some trouble at work

I tried a friends disc but it didn't except it. I ended up using my rescue disc which restored the PC to its factory settings. I copied all my photographs onto disc as well as some music. My computer runs far better now as I have got rid of all the rubbish I had acquired.

rossi_1983
Do a system restore from a date when it last worked OK. That error appears when windows is loading up, so you can't get to the system restore option
Craig_
That error appears when windows is loading up, so you can't get to the system restore option Isn't it possible to get in by safe mode (ie pressing F* whilst Windows is booting up)? Should be enough to get you in so you can do a system restore, I'd have thought.

Might be different for the op, but when I got that error message I tried F8 several times but it never worked The only way I could fix it was by repairing the installation through the xp cd
