Gigolo-Aunt

The Stone Roses at the Barrowlands in 1995 was a memorable gig due to how much I was looking forward to it/getting to see a band live that I was so it to, but I'm not sure its up there with the best gigs I have ever seen.

Beta Band at the Barrowlands in 2000 was superb.

Primal Scream at the Barrowlands in 1998 was excellent as well.

Suede at Meadowbank (in one of the 5 a side halls) in 1996 was piss poor.

Buddy Rich in the Usher Hall. Can't remember the year but he was in his 70's at the time. Absolutely amazing.

What are the chances of this descending into the usual frenzy of obscure band naming?

But having said that the Butthole Surfers in Glasgow about 3 years ago were superb, mainly as I have always wanted to see them and thought the chance had gone.

REM, Playhouse, 1989. I hate the Playhouse, but that night was something else.

I was just about to post the exact same thing. Not my favourite band, but that gig was amazing.

PsychocAndy

The Clash, I've seen them a few times and they were superb but the best one for me was an acoustic gig at the Roller Disco that became the Cav.

They were great, the crowd was great and the venue was great. My mate Norrie was working behind the bar and his sister was manageress and young PsychocAndy had a great time meeting up with The Clash again, they didn't know me from Adam but still...

Also a free bar for the band and Jimmy Boyle only and young PsychocAndy, shared a bottle of Brandy with Joe Strummer and heard a new song that they hadn't preformed yet, This is England.

The best gig ever.

What are the chances of this descending into the usual frenzy of bands I'm too old and out of touch to have heard of?

High, I'd imagine. I'll help you though, I'm a musical philanthropist.

Let's start with something I like to call "The Nineties"..........

Bruce Springsteen at the Playhouse -- no chance anyone could beat that -- over 2 hours of sheer class and what a band he had as well.

Queen at Ingleston was also a fine gig.

The Cribs - Barrowlands 2008 - The day the band announced to the crowd (and the world) that Johnny Marr would join the band.

The View - T in the Park 2009 - King Tut's headliners on the Friday. Absolutely mental.

The Cribs - The Garage, London 2010 - Played their first two albums back to back, in a venue that must have only fitted 300 people.

Yes, yes it was.

The Playhouse is such a dull venue, very hard to whip up an atmosphere, but Stipe had the place jumping that night.

Watched lots of great bands in the 70's-90's but the most amazing showman was Bo Diddley @ the Niteclub 1983 or 4
