You try and work out who the Goons are and vote for them, however on the first few days there isn't much to go on so it's usually just a random vote unless someone makes an error or annoys the rest of the players. You vote someone who you think might be a goon (baddie/Hobo). If you're a townie you'll really have very little idea who is good or bad and, for a newbie, can be one of the most frustrating roles as you really are pretty much in the dark for most of the game. However, as the game progresses, some clues as to folks' identities may begin to emerge - bear in mind that the goons will be trying to muddy the waters (when they're not hiding). That's pretty much it - if you happen to be a mason, your fellow masons should be able to hold your hand a wee bit. If you're a goon then likewise.
