Top 12 leagues In Europe

I'm beginning to think a larger league would only do one thing and that's aid the OF in winning 4-0 every week, possibly increasing the numbers of glory hunters they have.

the only way I can see the SPL being competitive is to see clubs introduce proper widespread changes to their attitudes to youth development. Clubs need to find themselves in a scenario where they have a good number of quality players in their squad not through buying but promotion from within. If teams can keep their squads intact they will have a much better product that can make this league proper productive and get the fans back.

Unless you get serious inflation of income like the EPL does through Sky nothing else will change the likelihood of winning the league.

Who is to say a Scottish team couldn't develop the next Messi? Our lack of facilities and widespread quality coaching is what stops us.

What stops us is the OF domination. If we produced the next Messi nowadays, we would end up selling him to Celtic or Rangers for 2mil and they would them sell him for tens of millions because he would have then played at a high enough level to prove himself. This is why international recognition and European football are so important to a club our size in such a stupid league. To be able to say a player has proven himself at a high level is even more important than just ability alone. The reason we got OF type money for Gordon was because he was a great keeper but also because he was on the sort of wedge that Financial Fair Play will no longer allow us to afford and also because he was a Scotland international with European club competition experience. A good Hearts player nowadays can almost triple his value by moving to the OF before going to a better league, this is down to level of competition he faces when he plays and wages.

The duopoly has ruined Scottish football and even rearing your own will no longer work in the days of agents, percentages, signing on fees and tapping up by the two clubs with the spending power that the OF have for wages.

The games fecked.

Changing the size of the league is like re-arrnaging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The OF having all the fans and media interest is the major issue.

Every team has to play at least 5 Spaniards. The Old Firm will still get the best players but we at least do not have to watch the Scottish dross.

Yer your right, lets just give in....its hopeless isnt it, no fans, no media attention :6:

Lets tie those deckchairs together Dave and build a raft as the RFC :chris: Titanic :boat: opens the door for proper reconstruction/ voting rights/ TV dosh etc....

Why would anybody NOT change it?????????????????????????????...

seems to be a choice of

A) dont change league set up and continue in this dire 2 team stranglehold

or

B) DO change league set up, and maybe, JUST MAYBE...things might change

its a NO BRAINER.

Unless it is made more competitive , a bigger league will result in diminished attendances al a the late 1960s and early 1970s.

If only both the OF ficked off .....
