What you should be asking is, how come Paulo didn't know there would be a replay and not extra time. Wouldn't that info determine how you might then use subs. For the record I like our manager. He does not luv us anymore. and thankfully we are now self sufficient and all the better for it, we just have to offload some of the the wage thieves in the summer that he signed/authorised. and the job is a good un'.
