H2
Did your know that in many modern cars there is an arrow beside the petrol pump on the fuel gauge to tell you which side your petrol cap is on. Anyone else got anymore more trivial but useful information?
Ulysses
Chinese people and Europeans use different parts of the brain for reading. As a result, Chinese people are much less likely to be dyslexic.

vladtheexhaler
Chinese people and Europeans use different parts of the brain for reading. As a result, Chinese people are much less likely to be dyslexic. A widely held misconception. Whilst the chinese language is based around semantics rather than phonemics, studies have found that the left hemisphere of the brain is similarly activated for Chinese and European languages. Sorry replied to the wrong post there. That should have been in response to jam tartan. Different parts of the brain are indeed used but they are both on the left. H2
On many modren cars you can get your tyre pressure on a plate or sticker on the upstand of the drivers door. That's the bit the door closes onto.

Ulysses
Sorry replied to the wrong post there. That should have been in response to jam tartan. Different parts of the brain are indeed used but they are both on the left. They are indeed different and both on the left. It's got to do with the sematics v phonemics point vladtheexhaler made in his other post. Chinese reading involves mapping symbols on to whole words, but in European languages it involves mapping symbols to sounds that have to be combined into words. That's more complicated and more likely to go wrong in the brain, hence the higher rate of dyslexia in Europeans. Apparently, dyslexia is also much more common in the UK and Ireland than in "Latin" countries because the mapping of letters to sounds in English is more complicated. So now you know. H2
Because it isn't Ah - it's not the handle of the petrol pump. Many cars actually have an arrow BESIDE the petrol pump pointing to the side the filler cap is on.
