New checks when renewing car and van insurance?

Renewed my van insurance today and was a bit surprised when the insurer said that we had to have a 3 way conferemce call with myself, the insurer and the DVLA to verify everything on my license was correct.

Had the alarm bells ringing a bit thinking it may have been a possible scam but sure enough it was a genuine check with the DVLA to verify i was telling them thevtruth.

 

Anyone else had this done?

 

I dont mind if its to weed out potential false claiments and bring down the cost of my insurance.

 

And funnily enough i got a reduced quote saving me ?69 from my renewal quote.
