Anyone got exams in the not-too-distant future?

My sleep pattern has been totally wrecked; am on the Pro-Plus and Irn Bru with a fortnight to go!

That's not to suggest that I'm a dilligent worker; I'm absolutely abysmal at revising. My tried-and-tested method is to cram wildly on the morning of the exam, but with eight exams from the 22nd of April to the 14th of May, I can't afford to wait!

Anyone else got exams (uni or otherwise) coming up?

You seem to be more interested in any potential legal career I may have than I am!

Law drop-out, perhaps? ;)

my dissertation is due in next week, 15,000 words long so i haven't slept properly since Xmas. my diet consists mainly of Relentless, soup, and cheese and ham toasties. as soon as the disseration is done i've got 2 essays to write, then just the 2 exams after that.

Fun times.

I've got 7 between Monday and 23rd May :(

Haven't really started revising yet which isn't my best idea ever, but once i do my days will no doubt change to working until about 3am and getting 4 hours sleep a night

Have to say i normally just resort to cramming but think I've got a bit too much to do for that this year.

Should probably go get on with some...

I've given evidence in the High Court against him umpteen times. He's certainly not great but he tries to be a showman which is a bit sad. In all the cases I've been involved in his 'clients' have been found guilty every time. There is one lawyer who looks like DF but is far more successful.

Glad I'm passed all the revising however my son is sitting his standard grades and trying to get him to study is like pulling teeth.

Had 4 in January, got one more in May sometime (good old Napier and their last-minute communication of important info). Pretty laid back about it all as long as I get my assessments in (1500 word interview plus somesort of feature of similar length and an essay on Recylcing plus a radio interview and a written news bulletin).

I used to have the exact same problem, I've never really been a studier, I either knew it or I didn't

Last year was different as it was honours and just too much to not study for.

I took the approach of reading over everything and making my own very simple notes, at which point I studied direct from them and only went back to the rest to examine stuff I realised I didnt know and basically kept reading over and over my own notes til I no longer needed to as I knew the stuff

Revision is a pain and I wish I could say it was actually worth it in the end

Got my final exams starting on Monday, barely done a thing in terms of revision. Had way too much crap going on recently and the finals have taken a bit of a backfoot, really not looking good at the moment.

No exams for me.

Just shed loads of Coursework :)

Same.

Finishing my last of this term's essays tomorrow, then on to 3 more due for the 19th of May, then that's me. Canny complain, really. Essay questions for the next set are *******s, though.

Acey, I'm curious - how do you get experience in the courtroom during your studies?

You only get courtroom experience if you take the "Diploma in Legal Practice", which is effectively a fifth and final year tacked on to the four-year LLB course (which is what I'm on at the moment). You need to get the Diploma to be an advocate.

1st and 2nd year Law comprises of about 20 subjects (have a look on the "Ordinary" bit here - http://www.law.ed.ac.uk/courses/ ), after which you move on to honours, where you can specialise in a couple of areas. The diploma's where you start to look at civil/criminal court practice, which - touch wood - is what I'll be doing in a couple of years' time.

Still got 2 essays and 1 presentation to do before I tackle my exams.

Not to tuff though - Two, 2 hour exams at the end of May so plenty of studying time between essays and then.

But these essays are due quite soon and the red bull diet starts tonight!

I've got great respect for the OU - I studied at Glasgow and Edinburgh universities, and also did a level 3 OU History course when I worked as a courier. The OU course was WAY more challenging than any Honours course I read for my degree. I'd give a job to a good OU graduate rather than a good full-time degree graduate everytime.

Good luck to all those studying and sitting exams, it's hell on earth through choice!;)

Been up since 7am yesterday finishing of my thesis. Ended up draining 6 cans of red bull and a a litre of lucozade last night in a bid to stay awake. No surprises that it worked, and i got i handed in today. Needless to say there will be several cans quaffed in front of the game tonight- am genuinely delighted with myself right now!!
