ArmiyaRomanova
Just found this on t'interweb - a Japanese/Javanese gamelan orchestra covering a punk classic by Gang Of Four - and making a damn fine job of it too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K19jPwpP5XY So, JKB, what cover versions can you recommend that are RADICALLY different from their originals? Here's a version of the original song for those unfamiliar.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAOAkVfqMAA

leginten
I was the blameless recipient of a Bad Shepherds album last Christmas. Most people think Edmonson & co. should be shot on the basis of what they did to various punk and new wave songs (this one's based on the Clash version of I Fought The Law) and to be honest the evidence is fairly compelling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKWNitW01x0

scott herbertson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5hsKXASExk One of my favourite prog rock obscure groups from the 70s - their 'Last Tango' is their masterpiece but this is simply weird - it's a long song so if you want a flavour of what it is like when it gets going sskip forward to 1.40. On X factor they drive me round the twist by saying 'you made that song all your own'. I think Esperanto could justifiably claim that, although most people would probably say they made this worse! Gregory House M.D.
Not radically different but one of my favourite covers is Babyshambles- She Loves You. You either love it or hate it though.
Alan_R
Twin Atlantic doing a version of Black Eyed Peas I Gotta Feeling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgLBMLptVrk Ah the old scottish classic of using your accent to mask how horrific you are. The proclaimers have been doing that for years! I've tried, I really want to like Twin Atlantic. Alot of my mates with similiar tastes like them. I like scottish bands and I like that genre of music but I can't. they are shit. Its one I can't get my head around. PS that cover was feckin' murder and the original was bad enough.
