Freebird
I was watching some South Park episodes from a streaming website earlier and I think I've picked up a virus. There's a prompt that keeps popping up saying Windows Command Centre needs my permission to run. Everytime I click Cancel it just immediately pops up again. I've done a full scan on malwarebytes to no avail. Been trying to get rid of it for ages now and need to go to bed but any help would be appreciated as it's driving me nuts! They want to use some of your memory to run the stream. Windows needs your permission. It will probably go away when you switch on again.....................maybe.stab in the dark type post

I would take it off the internet, then do a system restore (try and restore it to 3 hours before say). Then run a malwarebytes, just to be sure. Freebird
System restore doesn't seem to be working, it'll go through the motions and when it restarts it comes up with a message saying there was an error and system restore failed. This is driving me mad!
heartsfc_fan
Try another restore date/time. Is this Windows 7? FWIW Southside might be right. It might not be anything to worry about and just Windows asking for permission.

I've tried 2 restore points now and get the same message, and then the Command Processor prompt pops up straight away. From googling it seems the only way to remove it it was above my head :/

Freebird
I tried accessing Safe Mode but when I hit f8 it took me a screen saying something about choosing a boot device? Edit: Just tried that again, chose the first boot device and the pc started as normal. Don;t want to chose the second oneas IO dont know hat will happen! When my pc starts up it says to hit Delete to enter Setup, I went into that aswell and saw no mention of Safe Mode.

Freebird
It's a Packard Bell, but the motherboard died a while ago and so it has an Asus motherboard in now.
Jed The Jedi
Try starting the pc and while its booting hold in the power button to power it off again. When it shutsdown power on again. Very often Windows will detect that it was not started up completely during the last boot, and will prompt you to enter safe mode

Having visited sites that stream "South Park" episodes myself , this has worked a treat for me in the past. Good luck.
Freebird
Yep, I've tried Spybot, no luck again I'm afraid! Jed the Jedi, cheers for the advice mate, finishing off an essay on my laptop so I'll give it a bash in a bit and post back. And guys, it GENIUNELY was South Park! I was too tired for porn! ¼½¾
To get into Safe Mode:- Press F8 when starting up, as mentioned earlier. When you get the boot menu, select to boot from your your HDD and then tap F8 again. (I've got an Asus board too, and that works for me.)
Swanny17
If booting it into safe mode doesn't work bid, I suggest booting it out the windae. Hope you get it fixed though.
frankblack
This is a lesson to people - never, ever download and install software from dodgy websites to view pay tv streams. Any website should be perfectly capable of using Flash without you needing to install anything, and its 99% certain they want to put something suspect on your PC if they need an installer. wibble
Try Superantispyware Portable at: http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html and/or Try this MS scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Freebird
Right, just ran Malwarebytes in Safe Mode, it picked up something but not the right one evidently as it's still happening. I tried to do another system restore but it came up with an error message saying there were no restore points :/
Freebird
Another question; just put Superantispyware on a usb and put in on the infected computer. When I plugged the usb stck it, loads of Avire messages flashed up saying there was an intrusion (or words to thaat effect) but they disappeared before I could click 'Deny Access'. Will my usb stick now be compromised? Dont wanna plug it into my laptop now incase the virus is hiding in one of the files on it!
