Since Last Cup Win

Correct to point this out. Absolutely shocking. Think of the revenue potentially lost. Romanov is entitled to be raging about this...and people wonder why he changes managers. Well because the performances and results are awful considering the wage bill at our disposal.

Its pathetic. There's no other word for it.

And the worst bit of it all - you could see last night coming a mile off. The only real surprise is that the bookies still had us as odds on favourites.

Yep it's pretty grim reading. Yet there's some fans who view the league cup as unimportant.

We're not good enough to pick and choose what silverware we want.

Why since the last cup win - what about the one before that we've had St Johnstone, Motherwell & St Mirren pump us in semi finals and before that Airdrie did us twice in semi's - we've also lost to umpteen first division clubs including Levein get trousered 3-1 at home of Inverness Caley and hammered 4-0 at Falkirk where they ripped Elvis & McKenna a new one ....... Hibs also put us out the league cup. Face it apart from some intermittent decent runs every few years we are actually a fairly shocking cup team going by our records. :(

Indeed. For a team that regularly finishes 3rd its shocking that we havnt been in a league cup final since 1997, especially as we've won the big cup twice in that period.

Since weve won the big cup in 06 we havnt been past the second round (well techincally 4th or 5th round but the second round as far as SPL teams are concerned) and we keep getting knocked out by teams that we're lower than us in the league at the time/finished below that season except Motherwell in 2008 and even then we were 2-0 at Tynie in first leg:

07: Dunfermline

08: Motherwell

09: Falkirk

10: Aberdeen

11: St Johnstone

Lets hope we get our act together for the big cup in 2012!

Tosser...of course we'll be getting more stick than Aberdeen, they're not expected to finish 3rd in the SPL you plonker.

East Fife are bottom of Division 2 and Aberdeen were at home. Ours was a much more difficult tie.

I'll refrain from personal abuse, I hope you'll offer me the same courtesy in future. :thumbsup:

So the definitive list is;

Falkirk x 2,

Airdrie,

St Mirren,

Dunfermline,

Aberdeen,

St Johnstone,

Rangers, and;

Motherwell.

Pretty fecking poor to say the least.

In fairness, I think the only time we have drawn a non spl team in the Scottish Cup was when we played arbroath or someone away in the 3rd round in 2006. Apart from that we have no had any luck in the draw. Although we should have went through in all the ties we lost.

thats true, I know after last night and some of our showings in the league cup over the years it might not mean much, but since 06 we never seem to get drawn against lower league teams in the scottish cup other than Alloa in 2007 (4-0 makela hat trick iirc)

In 1998 we didnt face an SPL (or first div as it was back then) team until huns in final.. right? or were falkirk in 1st div/spl as well?

Since winning the Scottish cup, we've only won two games in that competition; beating Stranraer and Hibs!
