And try not to go totally bananas with the predictions;

Celtic (away) : LOSS

Kilmarnock (away) : DRAW

Rangers (away) : DRAW

Motherwell (away) : WIN

Aberdeen (away) : WIN

Hamilton (away) : DRAW

Partick Thistle (home) : WIN

Dundee (away) : DRAW

Ross County (away) : LOSS

St Johnstone (home) : WIN

Hibs (away) : DRAW

I'd bite your hands off for only 2 losses in the first 11 but the fixtures after August go quite kindly for us so you never know.

I agree and I think their Coach would be a good replacement for Cathro assuming that he eventually gets punted.

Archibald was Captain of Dundee Utd when Levein was their Manager and I have always wondered why Levein never tried to get him at Hearts.

Maybe he did of course and Archibald didn't fancy it but the guy has done really well at Partick.

We will maybe win 3 of those at best unless we bring in at least 3 more quality players - a keeper, creative midfielder and a dirty clogging midfielder to get stuck into teams that have better players than us.

You ready for this.. It's not the players.. Give Derek's McInnes our player.. A good competent manager.. We are top 4 at worst.

Can't see us getting anything until the Patrick game at the earliest. Even then there's no guarantee we will beat them. With Cathro in charge we are easy meat for all Premiership teams. The man's ****ing useless.

No even going to hazard a guess at this point. If we get a solid keeper, get Souttar, Smith-Brown and Hughes fit, and Djoum gets a good player in beside him in CM then we should be competitive in most games and big Lafferty will give us something we missed last season.

If we don't then we could well be in for a very tough first quarter and be getting a new manager in.

Aye, there's no shame in getting pumped from a part time team who play in League 2. A team who had players travel from Dumfries on match day. The only thing that's embarrassing is the result.

I don't disagree with your point - but to say we will be getting 3 points from our first 11 games is absurd.

We lost one game - albeit a bad one - but it doesn't make us a bad team. It doesn't change my confidence in the players.

Hearts 1 Aberdeen 1
Hamilton 1 Hearts 2
Hearts 2 Partick Thistle 1
Dundee 2 Hearts 1
Ross County 2 Hearts 1
Hearts 2 St Johnstone 1
Hibs 2 Hearts 1

3 wins / 5 defeats / 3 draws  = 12pts would be my prediction with the current squad. If we make 2 or 3 significant signings I will revisit my prediction before the season starts. I just don't see us finding things easy at all especially with the extremely difficult start. Away from home there are absolutely no positive signs so we will be very reliant on picking up points at Tynecastle. With only 3 home games in our first 11 thats a tall order. I think we could be in 9th or 10th after these matches.

Tell you what I will predict........ unless we get rid of Cathy and the sidekick , and the laptops and Levine we will be bottom 3 by the end of the season . Sorry to say it but the management hasn't changed its tune since the 2nd half of last season . Now........ that troubles me .

Anyhoo HHGH .

The quality of player that we have brought to the club. One freak result doesn't all of a sudden make them bad players.

We brought some excellent players to the club in January, players with more pedigree than the likes of Berra and Lafferty. We were absolutely horrific! You and others are going to get a rude awakening over the next month or so once the league starts. We have no leadership to bring the best out of the squad we have.

A rude awakening? You make it sound like you want us to get off to a terrible start.

Lack of leadership? Leadership is exactly what Berra will bring this to this team. Lafferty will be a big influence also and you can't understate the leadership qualities of Don Cowie either. We lacked leadership last season, different story this season.

Eh? I don't want us to get off to a "terrible start" at all I'm just not deluding myself as to the likely reality and I'm certainly not prepared to give Levein and Cathro a pass for what I see as another lackluster transfer window and preparation.

The leadership we need is in the dug out and whilst you are correct about the likes of Berra and Lafferty hopefully adding some on the park again the reality is we are still well short of having the quality of player to turn things around. Only time will tell but I've got no confidence that we will see the results unless there are the shortcomings addressed and quickly. That means first choice players signed not more squad members.

Well do better with Berra and Lafferty for sure but he is still to address the quite frankly shit scared midfield and goalkeeping problem. Djoum is a waste of space as far as consistency is concerned and Martin / Nowak / Prince /Cowie are not the required standard (Cowie maybe but not over 38 games)

Do you genuinely believe the players we have brought in are not of the required standard? We haven't finished our transfer business yet, that doesn't make it a lacklustre window.

Too much is being made of the goalkeeping and central midfield positions. Yes they are priority areas for us but we had other areas of the team which also needed strengthened and we went out and did our business quickly on those fronts which I think the management team deserve credit for.

This is based on nothing more than comparing squads and our historical inconsistency (apart from getting beat by Celtic at which we are very consistent these days), plus a good old fashioned dose of blind optimism.

I believe that Berra and Lafferty are of the required standard but I am totally unconvinced about any of the others. In my opinion we needed at least 4 or 5 of the Berra/Lafferty types to make any significant progress. For example Whittaker and GMS would have added massively to our chances and they ended up at Hibs and Aberdeen. We are miles short. That's without even taking into consideration the ineptitude of the Head Coach who had some excellent players for the final 4 months of last season and barely won a match. Several of those players would probably still be with us under different management augmented by the likes of Berra and Lafferty and thus making us a stronger side.

We may not have finished our transfer business yet but the games are about to start in earnest and Cathro simply isn't going to get bedding in time for each signing. It's sink or swim. He and Levein have had months to deliver on a keeper and they will deserve all the shit thrown their way if Hamilton is a calamity in the early league games.
