Say What Again
Anyone know if he has played since his Morton debut where he was universally slated for being gash? According to their official site, that's his only appearance (hooked after 56 mins) http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/player/johnathon-toto/456392/ EDIT: That's the SFLs site and not Morton's. I clicked on his name in the Morton site, it must have been an external link.

jamboinglasgow
Anyone know if he has played since his Morton debut where he was universally slated for being gash? He has played only 1 match out of a possible two. But I think Morton fans have written him off far too quickly

Francis Albert
Get him signed! Get him in the starting line up on Saturday! Only Hearts could mess about like this! Vlad won't sanction his signing until Witteveen is off-loaded! FACT! Vlad GTF! Another less than glorious passage in the life of JKB. Well done Hearts. Victorian
but... but i thought the know-it-all regiment had declared that the yarn about doing proper background checks wasn't true and that the delay was all to do with typical vlad interference. oh well. just shows you eh? droid
By the sounds of things he's doing poor at Morton anyway. Ta ta Toto funny because if you actually read the article in its entirety Alan Moore actually says although Toto had a mare he probably shouldnt have played him from the start, but the reason he did was Toto looke amazing in training(morton fans and hearts fans seem to over look that and seem a bit quick to judge a guy who hasnt played a lot of 1st team football of late)

Johanes de Silentio
He scored against Dunbar, though - ?300,000? I think it's worth taking a punt - sign him!
topcat
It's worth bearing in mind that the report says "FIFA rules dictate that up to ?60,000 (?52,500) compensation is due per year". So even if Arsenal are luring the next French wonderkid that's the maximum they'd have to pay. Considering we're shopping an indeterminate number of drawers down from that level the compensation that gets negotiated may not be as high. Still at least Hearts now know who they have to discuss prices with.
topcat
The regulations are in Chapter VII of the FIFA Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players. http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/01/06/30/78/statusinhalt_en_122007.pdf VII. TRAINING COMPENSATION AND SOLIDARITY MECHANISM Article 20 Training compensation Training compensation shall be paid to a player?s training club(s): (1) when a player signs his fi rst contract as a professional and (2) each time a professional is transferred until the end of the season of his 23rd birthday. The obligation to pay training compensation arises whether the transfer takes place during or at the end of the player?s contract. The provisions concerning training compensation are set out in Annexe 4 of these regulations. Article 21 Solidarity mechanism If a professional is transferred before the expiry of his contract, any club that has contributed to his education and training shall receive a proportion of the compensation paid to his former club (solidarity contribution). The provisions concerning solidarity contributions are set out in Annexe 5 of these regulations.
topcat
Looks like I was wrong about Arsenal. They'll be a category I club and so pay the 90,000 Euro rate. We presumably are Category II http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/01/27/61/28/circularno.1223-regulationsonthestatusandtransferofplayers-categorisationofclubsandregistrationperiods.pdf

I remember a poster on a previous Toto thread getting absolute pelters for saying he had inside info that Hearts would be liable to pay compensation for his last 6 clubs. Reading the above post and the newspaper article I think the guy did have good info but mixed up clubs with years?
BRY
Hang on - won't he just cost the same amount of compensation in January? Or is the point to wait until then to see if he is worth that amount?
Tasavallan
Anyone else of the opinion that ?300,000 is a figment of Banderson's imagination? As has already been confirmed, Toto's former clubs in France and Cameroon do not want compensation, therefore it is only his one year in Italy that is in question. . JamboAl
Hang on - won't he just cost the same amount of compensation in January? Or is the point to wait until then to see if he is worth that amount? I think the point, now, is to see if the Italian FA will waive any fee or at least come to a mutual agreement. Tje point previously seems to have been that we did not know what (financially) we were letting ourselves in for.

That still leaves around about six years of his career where we don't have compensation waived. By FIFA rules, that could mean up to ?60,000 of compensation per year (of his development). Cut The Crap
Surely the main question remaining is why haven't the Italian FA been able to let Toto's agent know one way or the other?
alanbauld
He shouldn't need to be good to get signed by Hearts he should be exceptional as there are a crowd of young players jostling to come through in his position who need some space to get game time and experience. If he has an agent then he sucks, how can you sell yourself if you dont know how much you cost. Some of the Tarts on this board could maybe answer that one.
