Tom Heaney
This all getting out of hand, last wee we are led to believe that the police tell Conroy that if he doesn't report Laslo to the SFA then they will take action of their own. Now we have a ref (also a lawyer) goes running to the police and has the guy charged for what seems like a nothing event. Rather than just report it to the SFA (which no doubt he has also). Not condoning violence or physcial abuse towards officials but on the face of it this would seem to be a step too far. Going down a dodgy road with this one http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2008/11/03/exclusive-cops-charge-berwick-rangers-footballer-over-push-on-referee-86908-20865386/
Deevers
It was only a matter of time before this started to happen. Having watch quite a few Junior matches over the years and seen the appalling standards of behaviour at some of these games, I'm surprised that this sort of thing isn't in the papers every Monday morning. The officials involved with junior football over the years have failed miserably to stamp out violence in their games and it was only a matter of time before some of this sort of thing manifested it's self in the lower divisions. Deevers
Much easier job for the police than dealing with 3,600 of the greatest fans in the world. Think it's probably down to the quality of the cops that are about these days. In the 60's 70's and even into the 80's there used to be dozens of arrests when the Old Filth came to town. The cops in these days didn't seem to mind getting stuck into them. These days we seem to a a procession of dwarfs and silly wee girlie's in police uniforms around the ground - none of whom fill me with any confidence in their ability to sort anything or anybody out. Rawrrrrrrr
Apparently its part of the SFA rulebook that if any player puts even the slightest hand on an official then it must be reported to the police. The ref seems to be getting a hard time for doing what the rules dictate.

As if the refs stick to the rule book right enough but since you are being so particular with this, what does the rule book say about the official "hitting" a manager with the numbers board ? Will Laszlo get into further trouble for not reporting that to the police?

Well I doubt its covered TBH and Im sure if Laszlo did report it to the police the PF would throw it out just like they will with this case At the end of the day abuse refs all you want but the rulebook says this and I very much doubt some lower league SFA ref is going to risk his nice little earner on a saturday afternoon just to show some common sense. It will be thrown out very quickly, and the player will think twice next time he puts his hands on someone - no harm done

TBF I think in those days the cops could get stuck in and that was that, if the police did you you put up with it. These days if the cops lay a finger on the OF fans then they'll go bleating about it to either the club or the papers, probably both and then the cops in trouble, they'll be accused of being "heavy handed" either in the press or with the boss who won't get his seat at Ibrox. Still don't excuse the present lot from standing about watching blatant breaches of the peace taking place and totally ignoring it. They get paid big money these days - and quite frankly they are not earning it these days when on duty at Tynecastle when either Rangers or Celtic coming calling. Minor contact, and the guy go sent off. Give him a 3 match ban, end of. If this was SFA directorate 4 years ago, Miko would be up on an attempted murder charge. Am i correct in thinking that we pay for the policing on matchdays? We should refuse to part with any cash to L&B until the club receives an explanation of why they refused to do their job. Let's face we're not paying anyone else at the moment, at least this time we have a viable reason.

We pay a set fee for every police officer that is on duty inside the ground, that on top of the fee that we pay for the stewarding - none of them do their jobs properly when the old firm come to town. Maybe someone at the club should be questioning the number of stewards and police officers that are being deployed in the away end - quite frankly we'd be better off with cardboard cutouts there for all the good that they are doing. I see Celtic had their own stewards working on sunday. They were the guys with the Orange jackets. One of my mates stewarding in the School end said they turfed quite a few Celtic supporters out for sectarian chants. Did Celtic pay for them to come through even though we sold the tickets?
