I see Benjamin forgot to get rid of the gardening gloves before going on stage.

And only 6 of him, so he’s got the number right.

Tell you what, he's better than any of the songs we've seen tonight.  Sheesh.

By the way, the odds at the bookies are for Iceland, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Slovenia and Serbia to get booted out, though Australia might be in the mix.

The gap between Serbia and Australia is narrowing.  :ninja:

Welcome back Luxembourg!

Surprised Azerbaijan out - they normally do well.

The one thing with Ireland qualifying is the UK won't finish last. 😁

So Poland and Australia lost out from among the betting favourites.  Not that either of them were strongly fancied to win.

I hope it doesn’t go back to the way it was in the early 2000s - loads of novelty acts and concentration on performances and staging.

It’s a song contest.

I keep on harping back to the French entry ‘Voila’ from a couple of years ago. A singer, a mic and a spotlight.  Superb. (Unfortunately lost out to Månneskin - but that was a great song too)

Very, very slowly it's being permitted to be augmented.

For years the rules on recorded backing vocals and other effects were very strict.

It's being relaxed a bit too much for many people's liking.

Noticed that with Olly Alexander's performance last night. Shouldn't be allowed in my opinion.

It's actually against the rules to play instruments live on stage; they have to be a backing track.

Only the vocals must be live.

Apart from some backing vocals, which can be pre-recorded, but nobody on stage is allowed to lip synch to the backing track.

Only a prop.

Same goes for the Croatian band, all instruments were props. Same goes for Maneskin, Lordi and all other bands. Only the singing is live.

Aus tried to play the Indigenous card (yes, we're required to capitalise it).
That worked out well.....

I’ll be backing Ireland. Not because I care or haven even heard it but because of the entertaining online reaction to it if they win.
