FWJ
I hope it doesn’t go back to the way it was in the early 2000s - loads of novelty acts and concentration on performances and staging. It’s a song contest. I keep on harping back to the French entry ‘Voila’ from a couple of years ago. A singer, a mic and a spotlight. Superb. (Unfortunately lost out to Månneskin - but that was a great song too)
Cade
Very, very slowly it's being permitted to be augmented. For years the rules on recorded backing vocals and other effects were very strict. It's being relaxed a bit too much for many people's liking.

Noticed that with Olly Alexander's performance last night. Shouldn't be allowed in my opinion.
Cade
It's actually against the rules to play instruments live on stage; they have to be a backing track. Only the vocals must be live. Apart from some backing vocals, which can be pre-recorded, but nobody on stage is allowed to lip synch to the backing track.
