It just so happens that on this topic we only hear from one source of extremism on this site. I certainly can't recall anyone from the trans lobby coming on as a counterweight to the anti trans extremist who dominates the site. Despite his screeching and the contemptible comments about enabling rape, seemingly acceptable on here, my view is that the legislation seemed well-meaning but was badly implemented. A grown up country would have found a way to safeguard the rights and safety of both sides but the dog whistle nature of today's politics and culture makes constructive debate impossible. Sturgeon's hubris and bampottery on both sides led us to where we are today and given that the only tactic left for the Tories is to create an enemy within it's not going to get any better. Teen social fads have always been a thing - punk, hippies , mods, rockers, metal, ravers and so on - sticking it to the man. Lost, disillusioned kids trying to find themselves without a proper outlet for their rage and hormones . So as with everything it’s polarised .
