Oh, and finally, well done to ICC for putting Scotland in a group with 3 Tier 1 teams while other group had 1 tier 1 and was noticeably weaker.

What about doing draw once qualifiers known to ensure fairness or would that be too much to ask.

Doing draw so far in advance is stupid but then again, the whole ICC is stupid and basically caters for India, England and Australia.

Yup, I was amazed at that draw.  False hopes after WI game, but we had a massive chance in the Ireland game.  Win that as we should have done and today’s flat performance wouldn’t have mattered.

It is going to be some weekend as Scotland exit 3 world cups, while England have a chance of winning all 3.

Australia for men's RL world cup, England for women's Rugby union world cup and India for cricket world cup. If we are counting womens rugby league, then Australia for that as well. No idea on wheelchair RL.

Berrington proud of performances. Must be on a public relations exercise as the batting against Zimbabwe was garbage, especially in middle overs, where they lost all chance of victory.

34 runs from overs 10 to 17 is shit in anyone's language.

It's the hope that kills you. I was so happy when we beat the WIs.(How bad have they become) And then good auld Scotland, does what good auld Scotland does the best...Shites themselves.

It's every bloody sport we take part in. We must have a flaw in mentality. Which we pass on to whomever represents us at the top of sport. Sick of it.

After Ireland's capitulation to Sri Lanka, we have the biggest clash in cricket with India taking on Pakistan. It's like England v Scotland at football only on steroids.

MCG is rammed full and atmosphere electric. Over 100,000 in ground.

A victory here gives winners a great start while losers will see pressure heaped on them.

Last ball win for India. Over 50 from last 3 overs with Virat Kohli simply superb.

Atmosphere is unreal.

Kohli is on another level. A few levels above the best.

Ireland closing in on victory over England
Ireland set 157 and England stuttering throughout 86-5 off 13.1

Ireland in a good position but it's only 60/40 at the moment.

Ali is going for it now.

Ireland win if the rain doesn't stop.

Rain stops play. If it doesn't start in the next 10 minutes the game is over. England behind on Duckworth Lewis  - so would lose the game ?

England really mucked up. Lose by 5 runs on DLS. Probably needed 3 more balls and they'd have got there, but Ireland deserve win.

England left it far too late to attack although Ireland got lucky with rain as bringing on leggy to Moeen asking for trouble.

That group now becomes tight as NZ v Afghanistan also could be rain affected.

Wish it had rained last Friday at cricket.

Whatever the arguments about the draw, Ireland and Zimbabwe have certainly justified their places.

Ireland and Zimbabwe are test playing nations. Holland got the luck of draw being in with UAE, Namibia and Sri Lanka. They got hammered today.

Zimbabwe did well today but got ridiculous decision against SA earlier. Ireland got big time luck against England with rain. Finish the over they were half way through and Moeen would have seen them through to win. Ireland also one of the most ungracious teams ever when they win.

Still, them's the breaks.

Hoping India win, but in one off T20, any of sides could win.

India played 20/20 cricket from about 5 years ago. Slow start and accelerate. Their team needs refresh, especially opening pair.

England demolished them.

Will be interesting final as Pakistan dangerous team. England heavy favourite though.

The key for England has been improvement and development right through the team.

Sam Curran player of the tournament. Reece Topley who missed through injury.

Alex Hales back and Butler, Stokes, Rashid delivering.

Should improve more next few years and maybe just Pakistan that can keep up with them.

Tense finish to first test with  Pakistan requiring 86 runs in final session with five wickets remaining. If England lose will it be some sort of record with 657 runs in the first innings and a combined total of 921 runs (Placid pitch or not)

Odds on England now with 6th wicket down. Robinson then clips stump and bails stay on

Record aggregate number of runs in a Test match?

I saw this stat and was a little sceptical. It's the 3rd highest BUT highest producing a result and the other 2 games were longer than 5 days.

Yes. This first two were "timeless tests" and only ended when it was time for the touring parties to catch their boats home.

The other notable element in the comparison with others in the list is the number of overs bowled in each of the matches. Indeed in two matches 8 ball overs were used.

England scored at 6.72 runs an over.

In the 2019 World Cup final they scored at 4.84 per over and 7.26 at T20 World Cup final this year.
