Contested Drop Balls 😥

The difference there is the Ref in the OF game bounced the ball.  The ref in the MU game dropped it.  :)

Should've asked for a re-drop 😮

Samuel Camazzola

The thing with a drop ball was it could be contested by as many players as preferred 2v1 or 3 v2 was fair game.

By the way.  What the hell was the Ref looking at after he bounced it.  Kept staring down after, Brown got a fly kick off the Rangers full back with the beard, Ref missed it because he was more worried about the dent he left in the ground :)

Just trying to bury his head as usual when the OF do anything nasty.

Can't be bothered with this drop ball crap nowadays. They spend more time deciding and discussing whether or not to send it back to a keeper with fans applauding if they do to warrant it. Not for me, never applauded a pass back from a drop-ball, totally pointless move. A drop-ball was a drop-ball, two players going for it and whoever managed to get it first started a move for their team, 50-50, just your luck at that moment. A throw-in is different though if one team has to kick the ball out for treatment to an opponent.

Same with shoulder charging the keeper and ball over the line.

Drop balls can no longer be contested, but the change is more positive than it sounds.

If play is stopped, the ball will be dropped to a player on the team that last touched the ball - and where they touched it. All other players must be 4.5 yards (4 metres) away.

What that means is if a team's attack is stopped, they will get the ball back in that position - instead of the opponents booting the ball down the field.

However, any play stopped in a penalty area will be returned to the goalkeeper, even if the attacking team had the ball.

Another big change now sees a drop ball awarded if the ball hits the referee and goes to the other team as a result, or if the referee accidentally scores a goal, as happened in the Dutch fourth division a week before the law change.

:D  Sorry, I quoted that from the BBC.  Wasn't my opinion.  It is boring in a way.

Bazzas right boot

Good for the fans, but pointless.

It was great when a game was highly charged tho, pissing down two players kicking each other.

A headache for the ref tho and imagine getting injured in one.
