trotter
First manned launch of the SpaceX Falcon rocket. First time US astronauts have been launched into space from the USA since 2011. Watch live here: As an aside, the side-by-side landing of the two Falcon Heavy boosters is one of the sexiest things I've ever seen... The name is a nod to the science fiction of Iain M Banks whose Culture novels had them naming ships things like "So Much For Subtlety", "Just Read The Instructions" and "Of Course I Still Love You". https://theculture.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_spacecraft_in_the_Culture_series

You see them blasting off in these massive rockets into 'space' and think its all Star Wars and travelling to the ends of the univerese, going these massive distances. Its quite a thing to think the ISS is only 253 miles up which is pretty much the length of the 5hr drive from my house to Derby. Or up to Elgin and back. When you consider the lives, time, cost, expertise and effort gone into that its quite mind boggling what lies ahead.
alwaysthereinspirit
I've watched it fly "over" my house the last two nights. Pretty cool to watch it coming over at 17,150 miles an hour. At the exact time and direction posted.

By sheer chance I saw a YouTube video last night about the effect space has on your body even after a matter of weeks. The obvious things like the effect weightlessness has on your skeleton and muscles, but more surprising is that it damages your eyes as they have a very specific pressure in them that is effected. I guess we’ll have to wait until we reach the science fiction ability if anti gravity devices.
