Hope not. The lack of finance from them will make our budget wafer thin.

Apparently due to Ladbrokes parent company focusing on responsible gambling.

I wonder if this will set a trend?  Both the Scottish Cup and League Cup are sponsored by gambling firms, as are both arse cheeks.

Another gambling firm must be quite likely.

William Hill are in the process of laying of thousands of staff.

They are blaming the government crackdown on FOBTs which is limiting stakes to two pound a spin.

It's fair to say other betting firms will do similar.

As the firm's are cutting costs we can expect any contracts from the betting firms not to be extended beyond their conclusion imo.

Good. The less gambling companies in football the better. Get those Ray Winston adverts off as well. Find another sponsor, it can't be beyond the wit of man (not sure if Doncaster qualifies).

Good , alcohol , cigarettes and betting firms / casino’s shouldn’t be allowed to sponsor things in todays day and age. Must be a huge amount of money from betting firms / casino’s going into English football. Be interesting to see if it changes things down there.

Though no sign of a let up in sponsoring football clubs and other sports

Wayne Rooney wearing number 32 for Derby as they are sponsored by 32 Red..not sure many firms can pay what gambling firms are paying....im a full time trader and see every day how scummy the bookies are, win lots and they restrict you and lose £1.000s and they encourage you more

Why not, they are all legitimate companies.

Who would you see as acceptable that would REALISTICALLY be interested in sponsoring a football competition ?

We won't really see the effects until the contracts need renewed.

Couldn't agree more about the scuminess of the betting firms. I used to work for one of them.

Even the way Hills are proposing to decide who goes and who stays is diabolical.

The last bit is more suited to the shed though.

If those types of companies were banned from sponsoring teams/competitions then there would be less money going in to the game.

So what?

As long as it was across the board then football would find a new level and crazy wages and transfer fees would be a thing of the past. Football as a game would carry on and the same level of player would still play the game, they just wouldn't earn as much. Footballers don't become better just because they get paid more. There would still be enough money in the game to make it attractive.

In current economic political stalemate in the UK its likely many outside parties are eyeing up an opportunity. A football club competing and beating the old firm  brings a wider interest. Perfect time for US Asian Russian brands to step forward.

A sponsor who slagged of the league and couldn't get even get the competition name correct? This is good news.

100% agree with jamboj comments, Ray Winston and Jeff Stelling pushing gambling.

Lets be honest here, the real reason they are pulling out is because the company is making less money now the rule changes have taken place where you can spend a maximum of £2 a spin on the fobt rather than £100 a spin. they have blamed there for closing lots of shops and in turn will be making less money.

its a good pr exercise from them as it looks like they are trying to help problem gamblers from not promoting sports gambling when they know problem gamblers are mostly found on slots machines.

all while they send problem gamblers £100's of pounds in free cash bonuses to entice people to spend more and actually call when people dont bet to make sure they are ''ok''

sorry for the rant but feel very strongly towards this. if i had my way i would ban any kind of betting.

Maybe in England where they have the crazy TV money, but sponsorship is vital in our league for most clubs.

Very few companies other than "those types" would be interested or have the resources to get involved in professional football sponsorship

i think it is worse that they have had both paul merson and matt le tissier promoting it as i believe both have had or still do gambling problems

Really good points made and I like a punt, generally horse racing and golf though.

The way these companies are still exploiting people online is obscene frankly. All the fruit machine games need completely banned and the minimum stakes needs introduced right now.

Be interesting to see who the new sponsor is. I actually think the Old Firm are a much as a hindrance than help in these scenarios. Companies look at them first, see their core clientelle are scum and that influences the decision making. Will be gambling or alcohol again.

Good point ban gambling companies from any type of advertising/sponsorship

like what happened with tobacco companies

glad there’s one less gambling company connected with our game

maybe one of the bigger companies based in Scotland will be interested

Thinking amazon prime or you tube/ netflix could sponsor it. Actually have a proper go at the monopoly of sky/bt sports

They would blow them both out the water with a deal and hopefully highlight our league to the millions of their subscribers

If only we had an engaging, commercially-minded figurehead leading the negotiations from our side.

Instead we have this *****.

On a slightly more serious not I'm not sad to see the back of a Bookmaker as league sponsor.

In the 80’s, the Scottish Cup was sponsored by The Scottish Health Education Group. It’s on the front of the Cup Final programme from 1986.
