Line Of Duty....Series 5

I've thought for weeks that it is surely Gill. She's such a shit character though, that I hope it isn't her. Clearly not Hastings and his two wee pals will get him out of the hole.

If not her I hope its the commisioner Sindwhani - they are both annoying me with their hammed up acting performances!

I've been listening to the 'Shrine of Duty' podcast. The amount of small details throughout the episode that are easily missed is crazy. Good podcast with a good variety of theories!

Can't listen to those presenters though. Real personality vacuums.

I've only listened to the most recent podcast. I very nearly switch off after 5 minutes because their accent was annoying me. Can totally understand why they would put people off!

SERIES!!! FFS!

A Series is the entire production of the show and a Season is the segmented parts of it in my book.

For example I might say that LOST is the best TV series ever created and that Season 4 is the best part of it.

It's an Americanism.

It's a series. It always has been.

So there is no difference in UK between a series being 1 batch of episodes and a series being the entire show run?

My (and it seems US) definitions seem better.

Up there with sidewalk for if you're too stupid to know what a pavement is.

It's perfectly clear from the context what you're referring to.

No way it's Hastings or Arnott. They're the only ones who say aitch properly.

Is Kate stitch Ted up?  Why did Dot save her, why as an undercover cop, she had no sympathy for John and did she switch off her radio at the Eastfield raid.

This series is brilliant - love it. I’m actually looking forward to the finale as I type this. Poor Hastings. Bit daft leaving £50K on the sideboard though - not even under the bed or in a handy travel microwave.

This season has got a bit daft but hey ho.

Cracking viewing.

Finding this series stretching credibility a bit too much. Still enjoyable with the critical faculties turned down.

Agreed.I know you have to have drama but some of it is OTT.

Between Hastings being offered a way out of his financial hole until he was put in front of Anna Maxwell Martin, I agree that this series has had its low points. It's too much of a character shift from the previous four series; we're expected to believe that the man who's interested in one thing and one thing only - bent coppers - walks blindly into a £100,000 agreement with an ex-copper he doesn't know in the middle of the biggest corruption scandal he's ever investigated? It has me tearing my hair out. I'll be glad when Sunday's episode is done and I can forget about it.

If it's any of the three main characters, that'll be me done with LoD. How could one of them be the big criminal mastermind yet have such a shitty life with no trappings from what should be pretty substantial proceeds of their activities?

Because it’s the easiest way to get caught!! Live on a coppers wage, until retirement. Then you can spend all your ill gotten gains however you like, with no scrutiny. Not rocket science.

Criminal masterminds don't lose money in bad investments, quietly.

I'm definitely in agreement with the view that this season hasn't actually been very good and the storylines are just...shit. Be glad when it's over to be honest.

I don't want the trappings of big criminal proceeds when I'm 70 and struggling to get more than a flop on! I want my Ferrari while I'm still able to get out of it without help.

Yes, I see the logic but, for real?

You’ll not have a Ferrari in jail.

If a copper starts living the high life he’ll soon be getting looked at, by other coppers.

Yes, but if you're a mastermind, you have ways of recovering your money.

The acting in this   Like something off Dead Ringers.

The plot is woeful too. How did this ever get its reputation?

The automatic weapons scenes are like a poor mans American cop show.

Also so many police murdered.

Liked the episode and the twist

although hate it when Tv characters have the eureka moment that Arnott has re the Morse code. Like how many times have officers poured over Dot dying declaration and not noticed it and suddenly Arnott does.

ps hadn’t clocked until he was having his interview the young lad was the kid from the bike in s1. Same actor and everything 7 years later
