It was only after playing for Watford Youth against Spurs that they they decided to give him another chance. Even then he was not considered all that good and didn't stand out. He was neither big nor quick and played in midfield. However, it was noted he had a constant desire to improve different parts of his game and they stayed with him. Quite a story and hopefully inspirational to any young kid who gets rejected oh, and his debut was against us in the 2nd leg match

Wikipedia also states his debut was in the 2nd leg. Hadn't realised he won their penalty which he took and Jamie saved?

Sterling played at Tynie for Liverpool in the first leg of that tie, Kane played at WHL in the second leg of our tie with Spurs.
