Allowayjambo1874
John Greig, released by Hearts as a youth because he wasn’t big enough. Voted greatest ever Rangers player a few years ago.

mitch41
If you listened to John Greig when he told the story how after the Hearts scout rejected him for being too small the Rangers scout did his job. Greig had older brothers who worked in Fountainbridge so the scout went to see them after they finished their shift and realized John Greig would probably grow to they're size. So that was that Rangers signed him and the rest is history.
been here before
Wee bit before my time and only read about it recently but Denis Law in 72/73ish must have set the pulses racing.

He also told how, when he was manager, Sandy Jardine practically begged him for a free when he found out Hearts were interested.
iantjambo
John Brown. Might be an unpopular choice here but he was an excellent defender and we definitely missed the boat when we turned him away.

JJ was phoning an agent about any players he had available. The agent was at the greyhound track next to VJ and he passed the phone to him, after telling JJ there was someone standing next to him, he might be interested in. VJ took the call but it was just friendly banter. Other players who had trials or released by Hearts - James McFadden and Bobby Smith. John Harvey thought BS was too small and would not make it as a football player, but he went on and played for Hibs and then moved on to Leicester City
