Finlay James
Young lad that the club have high hopes for, I notice on twitter that he has been offered a 3 year deal by the club and he is "buzzing to get it signed and get started". For those who watch the youth teams, what position does this lad play?

allymac35
Anthony plays as a 10 or as a wide right, very similar in style to Jamie Walker in that he likes to come in from wide areas. There will be a few more of these announcements over the coming days\weeks hopefully as this is a great group of players Hearts have. The likes of Harry Cochrane, Chris Hamilton, Jay Sandison, Marc Leonard, Dean Richie.....all of whom the club have high hopes for. The changes put in place by CL are slowly starting to bear fruit, some really good players in the 15'squad age group as well...future looks bright. The Apprentice
saw under the tweet that Jay Sandison had sent his congratulations, Anthony's reply seemed to suggest Sandison also got offered a contract. I'm sure I saw a mention of Jay Sandison signing a professional contract on one of the Hearts Facebook pages the other day. Think one if his family menbers posted it up. Only reasons to do it are if it helps parents with commute and for playground boasting...

Footballfirst
Surley Chris', Harry and Marc have been offered contracts. Marc won't be 16 until December so probably can't sign a full time contract before then (nor will he be able to leave school) I suspect that we won't see any official announcements at least until each of the lads turn 16, although talks will obviously take place before then. I'd expect that most of them will have SQA exams to sit in May, so none will actually be contracted before the summer. The birthdays of some of the U16s who may be offered contracts are: Dean Ritchie - January David Wilson - January Anthony McDonald - March Jay Sandison - March Harry Cochrane - April Ross Young - May Chris Hamilton - July Marc Leonard - December You will see from that list that there is a bias towards those born in the first half of the year. That is evident throughout the academy age groups (around 2 to 1). It's a product of the age groups being set by the calendar years, meaning that those born in the first half of the year have an average 6 month developmental advantage over those born in the second half. Six months doesn't seem much, but it is 5% of the life of a 10 year old starting out, although that advantage obviously diminishes as they get older. Kids born in the second half of the year aren't going to be poorer footballers, so it is an area that the club should be looking at to avoid talent dropping through the net.. Mikey1874
The age thing noted above is a factor throughout education. If someone could up with a solution to what is a problem it would be a major step forward.

pattythejambo
Marc won't be 16 until December so probably can't sign a full time contract before then (nor will he be able to leave school) That must be a big ask for kids born later on in the year going by the dates young Marc is giving some of them 11 months, and the way they grow at that age must make a difference,. Do the boys only get offered contracts around there birthday ? I suspect that we won't see any official announcements at least until each of the lads turn 16, although talks will obviously take place before then. centremidjambo
That's brilliant and delighted the lad seems so up for it. We have so much talent at this age group I think - hard to pick from them for future but Marc Leonard always stands out for me as a clever player when I see him - and he is the youngest! The lad Cochrane has not been playing - he ok? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk marc leonard is physically developed the same as the rest despite being younger, in the final third there is no doubt he possesses a vision to pick out a pass that no other 2001 in scotland can. i heard from a parent weeks ago that he was close to being called up for scotland 2000 team, not sure if this happened
centremidjambo
I don't think he has looking at the SFA twitter list of squads currently out - he certainly seems the stand out candidate from that age group albeit the lad Gilmour from Rangers has not been taken to 2000's either and he is a star.
