Thaw
It was fairly painless this year, what with the way the public holidays fell and coming in as late on the Wednesday as I could get away with.

Stephen Muddie
Nobody really means it !  Define meaning it? Like describe how you could tell if someone 'meant' it or not? To answer the OP as best I can, I stop wishing people I see frequently like colleagues, faimly, friends etc after I've wished them Happy New Year. I realise that if I wish a person in my life HNY in March because it's the next time I see them it might be weird, but for some I would, those I've missed. SwindonJambo
Don't bother with new year whatsoever. It's just another day and there's absolutely no logical reason as to why it's on that particular day. The Winter Solstice would make more sense to me if we even bothered with it at all. Sorry to be a miserable old git but I find the whole idea of people hugging and setting off fireworks to mark an arbitrary tick on the clock absolutely ridiculous. I'd rather leap about and go mental when Hearts score a goal in a big game. I'm happy to be here and in good health otherwise and happy we still have our beloved HMFC to support
