kylelauren01
Can't see a thread so here goes Hamilton - did well, good diving saves towards end of first half and ably helped by defenders blocking. No fault at goal. Two or three crosses claimed as well -7 Paterson - great header, acres of space in first half but rarely used. Did a power of moaning, especially at Jack Hamilton late in first half. Muted celebration at goal as he did at St Johnstone which I find strange - 6 Souttar - absolutely superb. A rock in defence and blocked everything. Stepped into midfield on occasion and looks back to his best. This guy is in the Levein/Webster mould and will make us a fortune - 9 Rossi - some good and some not so good. Brilliant piece of defending late in game to tidy up after a save, broke forward and with an easy pass and played it out! Works well with Souttar but caught for pace by their 16 a couple of times - 7 Rherras - brilliant commitment and dogged in the tackle. Still looks awkward playing at left back but generally ok going forward and defending. Most PT attacks in first half came down his side - 6 Djoum - going through an awful period. Doesn't look like he knows where he's playing. Slightly better when he went central but caught on his heels too often. Wouldn't have been surprised if subbed- 3 Kitchen - does what he does best, kept it simple though can slow things down too much. Doesn't lose many tackles or battles of strength - 6 Cowie - all over the pitch today. Growing into our leader and lead the Hearts fans singing after the winner. Think he gets it and now coming good on the pitch - 7 Nicholson - not a great display but nothing horribly bad either. Linked well with Rherras and Watt early on but fell out as game went on - 5 Watt - again some good and some not so good. Held on to ball a bit much and times and some passing not great. Terrific feet and never hid. Thoroughly deserved his goal but overall not at his best - 7 Sammon - did a power of work and created a couple of chances. Fell out as game went on and unsurprisingly subbed - 6 Subs Jonnson - did well when he came on. Won every ball in the air but no-one near to take advantage. Was their best defender a couple of times as he blocked Hearts shots. Unlucky with a shot deflected over - 6 Walker - never looked sharp. Playing himself back in might take a week or two - 4 Smith - no time
Mikey1874
Interesting summary Good for people not there. Djoum did a bit better than 3 but fair enough. Rossi made one goal saving tackle and Rherras 2. Overall a struggle second half. Would just add that Kitchen is proving very useful. He played a bit further forward than I expected. But he's just so up with and responding to play. Does a lot to keep playing going though overall we lacked fluency second half. But Partick played well and we might have destroyed another team. Totally agree regarding Partick playing well. Thought they defended really well at times and closed us down.
kylelauren01
I thought they got men behind the ball, leaving one up and being prepared to hit on the break. We struggled to break them down at times as we lack someone who can make that killer pass.
Keith Talent
No offence & all about opinions etc but can't have Rossi better than Rherras. It was Igor's worst game for Hearts( and I'm a huge fan.) You're bang on about Djoum & Souttar though.

Haken
Wouldn't change too much in the OP. Djoum never hides, but he's not suited to the wide right position. I've been impressed by young Hamilton in goals, too. He looks a fairly safe pair of hands without being spectacular, while keeping in mind he's only a few games into his first team career and will only get better. Serge Pizzorno
Can't just be me who felt Paterson looked half arsed? Good performance but attitude looked worrying, just IMO of course

Kirky Jambo
I saw things slightly differently. On the whole we were decent without firing on all cylinders, and bossed it without creating too many clear cut chances. Partick did play on the counter. Hamilton 8 - thought he did really well. One poor clearance was just about all he did wrong. Claimed a lot of crosses and a vital touch on one near the end where it looked like they might nick it. Paterson 8 - one slack pass near the start and beaten too easily in the box in first half. Otherwise terrific though. Won everything in the air as usual. Souttar 8 - love how he strides out of defence. Showed good pace too at times. Dooolan generally had the beating of him in the aerial battle but never came to anything. Rossi 7 - his distribution isn't the best but he's a good defender. Composed performance Imo. Rherras 7 - did well going forward. Does seem to chase the ball unnecessarily at times which leads to him getting caught defensively. Vast improvement on Oshaniwa. Kitchen 6 - really good at what he does but I felt it hampered us today, probably due to the way Partick played which meant he was higher up the park. He broke up a lot of our own attacks by going backwards and putting our defence under pressure. Cowie 7 - solid performance. Looks a different player. Djoum 6 - not his best day but I think people's expectations are a bit high given how good a player he is. Can't agree he is going through an awful period - he was great against Caley. Nicholson 6 - great start but fell away. Bit of a dive in the first half too at one point I thought. Watt 8 - wasn't really happening for him until his goal. But credit for always trying to make something happen and showing a bit of urgency. Came deep frequently to do so. Sammon 7 - thought he did pretty well. Frustratingly gives away silly fouls rather than challenging for headers a lot of the time, including one which appeared to be right on his head in front of goal. Wtf was the offside decision against him all about!? Subs Walker 6 - barely broke into a jog which is a feature of his play over the last year or so. Strange and frustrating to watch. Still manages to be quite effective though! Johnsen 7 - tremendous in the air and a couple of times managed to flick it on to himself successfully. A bit anonymous in a lot of our attacks but have a feeling he will be a good player for us. Smith - don't know if he touched it
gashauskis9
Hamilton 7 Paterson 6 Rossi 5 Souttar 9 Rherras 7 Cowie 8 Kitchen 6 Djoum 5 Nicholson 7 Sammon 7 Watt 7 Walker 6 Johnson 6 Souttar was head and shoulders yesterday. Watt was frustrating until he got in the box and put that away (needs to cut out the 45 yards out Messi shite and just make the pass and get in the box). Rossi and Djoum both poor yesterday and off the pace. Nicholson and Sammon looked effective and I was shocked at the early subs. Cowie put in another great shift, would have had him as MOTM after Souttar.

Was getting annoyed with Sammon & Nicholson not being subbed for being spent, but they were subbed about a minute or so later; decent timng & Walker along with Johnsen being the correct replacements

He operates in the engine room doing a difficult job, closing players down, winning the ball, and distributing when he can. Partick played particularly well in that area and didn't give us the time and space to create much. He was at least a 6 imo. Some people don't seem to appreciate the work he does, maybe because he's not a 'showy' player. When we play with two up front and Cowie going forward to support then Djoum won't get credit for what he actually contributes in the midfield.
