Stewart MacD
Right wing rubbish (and no, it's not tongue in cheek).
Bigsmak
You should read the book. Its very different from the film but it is one amazing read!
cosanostra
Right wing rubbish (and no, it's not tongue in cheek). Have to disagree. The director must have known what he was doing. It's as cheesy as you are ever likely to get.
Commander Harris
Right wing rubbish (and no, it's not tongue in cheek). I think it is most definitely a satire. A satire on militarism, fascism and ultimately the films own source material.(which is part of what makes the film for me, that they "adapted" a book in such a way) I honestly think Starship Troupers is a vastly underrated film, I'd go as far as to call it a work of genius. why do you think it is right wing rubbish and why are you so adamant that it can't be "tongue in cheek"? Exactly, Paul Verhoeven knew exactly what he was doing. He done the same thing with satire on the media and big business in his other classic film Robocop. cosanostra
Robocop is a classic. Tell you what film does have right wing, American imperialistic leanings, Iron Man. I liked it but there was a whole lot of America - world police about it.
Rawrrrrrrr
I can't believe anyone thinks Starship Troopers is serious I don't know what else they could have done to make it clear it was a satire and not serious?

True, I suppose If you don't get it, it's not meant for you to understand. It's like having to explain a joke.

Ray Winstone
If anyone has seen the film "The Punisher" they will also appreciate Starship troopers. So over the top you just know the director is taking the pi$$ and really not meant to be taken seriously. If you just sit back, relax and watch it for the entertainment then you will enjoy it. Great film with some tidy women.
