BM1874
Perhaps this should be in the shed not sure But thinking about people getting names and numbers printed on shirts and what peoples views or preferences were? For me looking through all my old kits, I can see that i very rarely if ever get anything printed on my kits and if i was it would be number only. The only kits i have had printed were a top bought for me for my 18th birthday with a nickname and 18 (bcos i was that age) and for a big tournament thay we all got Our names and numbers printed on our tops. I think that i am like this due to fear of the kit being out of date, obviously i know it happens every year now but its more to do when i was younger and on holiday i got a barca replica top with pre printed name, Figo 7 I wanted a blank one but my dad insisted due to him being one of best in world at the time to get his. Got home from said holiday days later and he went to Real So what are your : Preferences for printing on kits? - blank / name / number / name and number And Horror stories? LincolnHearts
Smartest home shirt/strip for a long time (imho). Undecided whether or not to get a number when I order one. It's not a shirt that needs a number if that makes any sense.
hughesie27
Used to get HUGHES 11 on every football top I bought until I was about 16 or something. Don't think I would bother now unless I wasn't planning on wearing the top much. Like a commemorative one.

It's not a shirt that needs a number if that makes any sense. Makes sense. It's a very nice kit without being spoiled with any add ons. I usually get a player on the back of my shirt, but the past few seasons it's been Skacel on the back. Last season it didn't feel right to have a name on the back of my shirt from a player who is younger than me Alternatives were Stevenson or Hammil, so I gave it a miss. Not sure there's anyone this season I would want to get on my shirt, and I'm far too old to have my own name and number, so I probably won't bother. Or I'll get Skacel 51 and cry about what will never be
RobNox
I'm pleased that the commemorative shirt has not been sullied by a horrid sponsors logo on the front, and on that basis, I will refrain from putting anything on the back. I'll want to keep that shirt forever and it would be a bit crap if I ended up with some one season wonder's name on the back. My eldest daughter got her first top during the 2005-06 campaign and thought long and hard about which player she wanted on the back. In the end it came down to Skacel or Bednar and she went for Bednar. She has regretted it ever since as the top still fits her and, as I have often pointed out to her, a Skacel top would have been timeless, as he will always be remembered as a Hearts legend. Brian Badonde
I once had PORN STAR 69 on the back of a shirt. I cringe now just thinking about it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never get a name or number on myself. Think I've had it once, AC Milan shirt and I got Papin on the back, when I was a kid.

Magic Numbers
Does a Ghana top with Kingston 7 count? Got it pre-printed for about ?6 from one of these fake shirt sellers on t'internet a few years back. Still quite a nice strip though.

Bruno
Its a bit naff for adults isn't it? As a kid it was always about pretending to be that player, but now I'd rarely be seen in a football strip other than playing football, and I wouldn't be seen dead with a name on the back. I did have McCann 7 on two strips (got the 98/99 one done about a week before he moved to Rangers) and then Juanjo 20 on our millenium effort. Laurie
Had quite a few names and numbers on the back, Adam 9, Flogel 7, Tomaschek 21, Juanjo 20, Le Juge 28. One of the ones that didn't hold up well was Stamp 8, as the letters T and M came off and now it just says 'SAP' 8 on the back I hadn't got one for a while but decided to just get Black 8 on the away kit from 11/12 season. First time the player has been younger than me, which doesn't seem quite so acceptable! Will probably refrain from getting anything on this season's home kit (I don't generally buy the replica kits much these days anyway but this season is a must). Walrus
As a kid I had Bruno and 6 (I think) on the back of this strip. Following year I had Ritchie and 3(again not 100% about the number) Wouldn't get it done now but if I had to pick it would be ?zt?rk and 5. hearts_crazy
I think weareing replica kits at any age is perfectly fine, regardless of what anyone says I will wear mine with pride. However getting a number and/or name on the back, especially if it's your own name, and you are over the age of 10, is just about the saddest thing you could possibly ever do. Pagan211
I got Gomis on the back of my away top this year cause it was the cheapest name. However I doubt I'll get a name again. If I do it will definitely not be my own. I got an away top the season we won the Scottish cup with Kyle 9 on the back as he was supposed to be fit at the start of the season. Since my first name is Kyle I just tell people that's why I got it on the back as that's less embarrassing.

Hansel
Mind getting Levein on the back of my pony top when I was a lad. Spelling error ruined it though. LEVIEN "I before E" they said, "except after C" they said.
I P Knightley
Your own name plus a number = acceptable. A star player plus number = rubbish. Seeing a fat, bald white lad puffing about a 5s pitch in a Chelsea top with 'GULLIT 4'on the back is just sad.
bajthejambo
I have had and still own loads. My favourite is probably the 2006 away shirt with Chesney 18 as I got called that from the older guys I went to the games with because of my frail body and long hair. EDIT Just remembered I purchased the home top after we beat Hibs at Easter Road in The Cup a few years back with Glen 51 on the back after he scored. There was a deal on for a cheap strip if you bought a ticket for the Falkirk game in the following round. Thought he was going to be a big player for us, turns out he was just the bearer of The Prophecy.
