Malinga the Swinga
Would it not be easier if any match before a European midweek match for either of the old firm was simply awarded to either Rangers or Celtic with something like a 3-0 victory. The opposition team could also nominate at least 3 players in their team to be awarded a yellow card, and one to get a red card. Obviously for Hearts, there would need to be a Lithuanian nominated for a red at all times in addition to any other cards issued. The same could apply for weekend matches prior to Christmas, New Year Bank Holidays, days when it is too hot, too cold, wet, sunny or windy, or when an old firm player has a bit of a sniffle. Should the match fall prior to an old firms players birthday, the match should be awarded to his team and he should be credited with a hat trick; a special gift from the SPL if you like

Other than that i am sure years ago mr murray the comedian said rangers would have team for playing in europe and another for playing in scotland. How many times has it been suggested after rangers get humped out of europe that the fault lies with the lack of decent opposition in scotland

You prioritise. And indeed pick and choosing games is a principle that Rangers seem very happy to apply when it comes to their players called up for international squads. What's good enough for Scotland ... Great OP btw.

Geoff Kilpatrick
In fact, to save fixture congestion, why don't they go the whole hog and have a league of two, playing each other n times that they deem appropriate. The rest of us can get on quite happily without them.
Erik
You know, it really wouldnt surprise me if this is the genuine kinda expectation Rangers had of the SFA / SPL right now. OFGTF

Thats going to p!$$ them off something terrible. They're going to feel short changed. So even though your post makes perfect sense. It just doesn't do enough for them. Paolo
Let us not forget that if either are in a cup final they get awarded that too. To give the other team someting to smile about, the official record will show them as scoring first, but the OF getting a later penalty to equalise, and a goal in the 7th minute of injury time and the last kick of the ball, to win the match 2-1. That should save them 4 games apiece - although the SFA would obviously have to compensate the two clubs for loss of income due to the reduced number of games. Makween
Personally, I don't think that extending the season would be enough. I think that we should immediately cancel all domestic competitions and rush out to buy Rangers replica tops. C'mon, people. It's for the good of the Scottish game. Walter Payton
Great idea, but I've spotted a glaring flaw. If Celtic were to be awarded all these matches without having to actually play any of them, when would they hold all their minutes silences?
