Hearts Euro football 24/25 thread ( merged )

Looking at this season and last season when we got Zurich... it's not impossible to get a winnable tie. We'd probably get a few tankings but the prestige of playing in it would be fantastic.

Never heard of this guy, haven't seen him play but came across his stats on Twitter. 21 year old CDM with impressive numbers.

The thing to remember is that folk tend to become more conservative the older they get as they acquire dependents and material goods that need protecting. Therefore, it is erroneous to think that the younger demographic will merely get older but hold the same views, displacing the older generation with their opposite views. if that were the case, we would all be voting left-wing and independence would have been a scoot. The younger generation of today will most probably have the same views as the older generation have now when they get to their age. Sitting back and merely waiting for younger people to get older won't work as a strategy.

Until he scored the free kick last week, the dot netters were organising transport to drive him out of the Emptyhad.

Its got one sound bite in it, but it does illustrate how ****ed the UK actually is. If you're going to stick your head in the sand and claim everything is dandy, then I really don't have much I can say.

How will Hibs spin this one.

It's the most hibby stuff I've ever seen on here; on the day we clinch third, too The timing always the most obvious thing on here and posting vile cr@p that NO Hearts Fan would post Only time I've seen such cr@p is from hibbys on pieandbovril, years ago

We should be looking to sign our own players rather than loan players imo

What good is this so called infrastructure that they barely comment on, when they have to lie about Att's and bare faced as well, when not many use it as they have shit crowds They have had new ST sales ongoing for months and nothing about numbers and we know why !! A club in denial on and off the park FTH

Even at our biggest position of need, RB, I think it would be a terrible mistake to run off Natty at this point. He's a serviceable RB and on his day he can add quite a lot. The problem is those days aren't consistent and he's still making mistakes. I still hope (though it's fading) he can iron that out and kick on, but even if not, I'd far rather have him available than just bring in another Lembikisa who's promising but ultimately is a downgrade at the position's most critical tasks and not have Natty to fall back on. I'm trying not to beef directly with other posters here but there are multiple folk in posts just above mine saying that if any of these players are involved next season it's a travesty. That's nonsense. Of course they'll be involved, even if we manage to get upgrades. We've had 30 players make appearances so far for us this season. There's already a significant number of those who won't make any next season. There are players like Halliday and Haring who are clearly done with their contributions to Hearts and it's time to send them on with all our best wishes. There are players like Lembikisa and Fraser who will quietly conclude their loans (or already have in the case of Offiah and Lowry). And that's before we even get to losing some of our consistent performers like Shanks, Beni, and Cochrane. On that list alone that's potentially 9 players we'll need to replace, and I've likely forgotten some. Yes, there are players like James Wilson who will likely start to see a bit of competitive time on the pitch with the first team, and players like Tait whom we hope to see more of. Still that leaves 7 contributors to replace possibly, which is a busy offseason already. On what planet is it a good idea to up the stakes and run that up to 10-12 players by chasing off our average performers? Madness.

3rd place netted sheep nearly £2.4M last year and I reckon the poster further back has the correct figure, a couple of hundred thousand more this year, coming to it's rightful place, this time, of course

We've got to be realistic, within budget, seasoned good professional's preferably that know Scottish football so there's less adjustment to settle in and that stays fit playing solid 90 minute game's consistent full seasons Id rather take Findlay over an young unproven loan signing

We're you down at Goswick today @Disser Pointon Ended up with a 86-14 72 Useless DBs at 4,5,6 and a bloody triple at the par 3 13th. Could have made real dent in the HC. Hitting the ball good but still short game killing me.

    Russia Invades Ukraine

Not sure the Russians have agreed in any way to pay compensation, return all kidnapped citizens to Ukraine, and release all prisoners including those sentenced. For example. All the people asking for negotiations are ignoring all these factors. All the people asking for negotiations want Ukraine to give up territory but haven't stated which territory in their own countries they want to give up.

I hope you are not referring to the first line!! 😄 The process to get there is being considered... There is the S30 transfer of powers under the Scotland Act process Personally I think that is dead now but that is what the SNP (and Alba) are still wedded to I don't think the Greens have ever given it any thought There is the de facto referendum process which posits that any and all elections should have a constitutional element, whereby those parties favouring independence include a manifesto commitment that a vote for them is a vote to hold a referendum on independence A variation on this is Ash Regan's Referendum Bill, rejected by the SNP when she was still a member but which seems (without the detail being known) to be a kind of rolling S30 transfer of powers Both of these are inherently flawed since they concede that Westminster is sovereign when it is not and that any referendum arising out of either of these will be conducted by the British state and under the Scotland Act, will be advisory referenda only (as was the 2014 referendum) and not actually binding A further variation is a process which does respect the sovereignty of the Scottish people All pro-independence parties stand on a manifesto commitment that a vote for them is a vote to end the union So an electorate backed UDI with a subsequent confirmatory referendum held in Scotland by the Scottish Parliament (or other Constitutional body as yet to be incorporated) without Westminster or UK media interference, and in my opinion, without any campaigning by political parties not wholly registered and funded in Scotland Currently ISP are the only political party not conceding Scottish sovereignty to Westminster https://www.isp.scot/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/ISP-Manifesto-2023-1.pdf As far as the constitution itself goes there are parts of the Independence movement looking at this https://salvo.scot/scottish-constitution/
