Summer 24 Transfers - Beni signs 2 year deal
cosanostra replied to Juho_Makela_Goal_Machine's topic in The Terrace
I honestly can't remember if you're right or not. I just always think he looks like a fish out of water at right back. He sometimes looks like that at centre half though as well. 🤣 Might be a good time to move him on. We've been hoping he'd develop for years and he still hasn't. -
The premise, the downfall of an empire based on a similar Roman Republic incident (the Catiline Conspiracy) seems to have some merit. However, the trailer looks disjointed, nothing new in that haha, and the lead is somewhat one dimensional imo. I watched a movie made in the last few yrs that was utterly hedonistic, although the title escapes me just now, anyway that picture mainly seemed 'unnecessary'. I get similar vibes about this film. A jumbled mix of Godfather/Scarface (Driver looks like Pacino but a foot taller)/Gothan City/Eyes Wide Shut. Anyway, might actually venture out to the cinema, at least for big screen experience.

Could well be right , I just see Spittal as better suited to the central spot because he is probably the more robust and less tricky of the three . Agreed though you would expect them to be pretty fluid -
This is a long (very long!) analysis of the Trump defence strategy from a former defence attorney. His argument is along the lines that the public approach is to deflect focus from the fact this is a simple case around Falsification of Business Records and turn it into a hush money or political scandal. On the stand the defence team are obviously trying to discredit Cohen but carefully placing him in situations alongside people like Trump's personal bodyguard and Trump's former executive Allan Weisellberg. He thinks Trump won't testify himself but these two, as Trump loyalists, will "provide" testimony countering Cohen. https://x.com/SethAbramson/status/1791200413749817367

Dhanda seems to do his best work played centrally, think Spittal would likely play on the right? I do agree though, I think we'll have a trio that can shift around when needed. -

Sean Clare also wasn't good enough to play in the current team. As an example of Sibbick being equally inept at right back, how about the league cup semi final. The issue with Toby is that he looks like a footballer and is often decent for periods but he's just not capable of playing error free for any length of time and his errors are not minor, they're frequently mistakes that cause goals. -
Shankland - wins Cinch Premiership player of the season (updated)

I get that Vic but these games v the old firm are nowadays pretty much always meaningless games where Celtic had the league wrapped up months ago and they are both usually resting players for a more important cup final. These games are not the old firm in peak flow. Rangers will play fringe players today and not change out of second gear, they are quite simply there for the taking. -

Shanks McKay Spittal Dhanda Would be my guess but the three behind the striker are all pretty versatile and you would expect t them to shift around a bit -

He was RB until the end of the first half. Then Kingsley went off injured and instead of bringing on Andy Halliday as a like for like swap with Kingsley at LB, he brought on Offiah which then forced Rowles to LB and Sibbick to CB. He was having a very good game until that point. -

If he made those errors at RB, I'd agree - but he doesn't. His performances there have actually been very decent (if a little rusty from lack of game time). IMO Its Sean Clare all over again. If Naismith starts him at RB today, lets see how he does. I think he's a better option than Atkinson. -
Incredible really, but not surprising. A club like no other. Our club will live forever. 🇱🇻 very proud of that fact.

Wasn't Sibbick right back in the 2-2 game with the vermin? You'd think with his size, pace and physical gifts he'd be able to play right back but it looks completely alien to him. I remember him being absolutely roasted at right back v Celtic at Tynecastle when we got scudded as well but that's nothing unusual for our right backs. -

I think it tracks back to him not being ready to play CB - am I correct in saying that all those brainfarts were when he was playing at CB (e.g. in the 2-2 game against Hibs, & Also Rangers when Kuol scored at the end, IIRC Toby ****ed up an easy header to let Rangers take the lead? but again, at CB). I think Souttar & Gowser were played as CDM and RB because neither were ready to play CB and it got them minutes on the field without risking inexperience in such a crucial position. I think similarly, Sibbick at RB would sharped as time went by and grow more into the role (and player I think most people can see). Whether he's ever going to be a CB remains to be seen. Did Jamie Carragher or Gary Neville joke about nobody growing up wanting to be a fullback? Toby might see himself as a CB, but he's not. There has been precious little evidence he's capable of playing there even at our level which is routinely mocked. -

Good news about Beni. Be great if we could extend Shanks. A quality RB is the key position we need to get someone in for. A quality, attacking, creative central midfielder is something we need also. Not sure if Dhanda or Spittal fill that role. -
Let's hope you use the summer to work on your understanding of football.

He is, I don't think Donald enjoys the limelight. He is a very true Heart of Midlothian legend.

He's so far off what is required to play CB for Hearts, particularly if we're going to go to 4 at the back and play more players further forward. -
In the Jungle , the Gorgie Jungle the lion sleeps tonight.. Definitely works (and not in the slightest bit racist as we've all been in the Gorgie Jungle 😄).

How many brainfarts, schoolboy errors, basic lack of concentration and catastrophic goals does Toby have to give away before some people will stop talking him up as being anywhere good enough in any position for Hearts. He's not a youngster and these faults are not going to magically disappear all of a sudden. He has pace and a catchy song but needs to be moved on. It's too stressful watching him defend. -

You're making good arguments for him and I want to like him as a player but does all that explain some of his utterly incredible brainfarts in the penalty box? -

A win in the last game, especially at home, is always a good way to end the season. 3-2 🇱🇻 -

I know. He's not Ussain Bolt and he doesn't score as much as Shankland = "shoight" -
Genuinely curious as to what you feel our other midfielders should work on during the summer?
