    Expectations next season

We haven’t had back to back 3rd place for about 20 years. Which is shocking really for a club the size of Hearts within Scottish football. Finishing third again and securing another European cash windfall is incredibly important and would represent some fantastic progress. I’d like to get a little closer in points to second. Hibs and Aberdeen really need to finish third if they want to try and compete with us financially. We need to starve them of this opportunity for a few years and we really will pull away. Less tangibly, I’d like to see us dominate more games on a consistent basis against the teams ranked 8-12th. A fantastic season for me would be - - 3rd - 2x semi finals (dependant on avoiding the - Old Firm in earlier rounds) - 2x wins in the ECL if we end up in that comp would add about €1.2m to our bank balance. We should have some really winnable games winning one game is worth more in prize money than winning the league cup. Player trading, it’s vital for us to get better. I think we could well see several 7 figure sales over the summer if this materialises we ought to try and secure the best local talent we can. Spittal and Dhanda are truly fantastic pre contracts. I have high hopes for both, even if they somehow don’t work out the strategy is sound and logical. If we can take that a step further and maybe land someone along the lines of Armstrong this will have huge implications for us, other teams will start to psychologically start to see us differently. So many games against the OF are won before a ball is kicked. I’d like some of that please. The ball is in our court. The board and manager have done fantastically well to put us into the position we are, we need to double down now.

3rd in the league again , gain more points than season just past and score more goals. Always look to do well in the cups but depends on the luck of the draw.
  4. No case' for going back into EU, says Starmer Sir Keir Starmer has been at an Airbus factory in Hertfordshire this afternoon and has fielded questions from the public and reporters. Speaking to the latter, he was asked whether a Labour government would review freedom of movement with the EU. "We haven't got it any more, and we're not going back," he said. "There is no case for saying we go back into the EU." He refers to the outcome of the 2016 referendum, despite having later campaigned for a second one. But Sir Keir says he thinks "we can get a better deal" with the bloc. He called for a "closer relationship", especially on trade and defence.

    Movies that should have sequels

Calamity Jane But, I'm not sure if anyone could live up to Doris Day's superb performance, although I'd not wanna cross swords with the real Calamity Jane. 🤭 The choreography on this clip is outstanding, I reckon. The real Calamity Jane 👇

One of my favourite artistes is Neil Sedaka. But ... it was bugging me as to who he reminded me of. He and Joe lo Truglio must've been separated at birth. Lol. See what I mean? Post yer look-alikes ... 😆

As the title says, which movies would you like to see a sequel too. Personally the 2 that spring to mind are Dredd (Karl Urban one) and World War Z

3rd. Not expecting much in Europe and progress in the domestic cups are probably dependent on avoiding the old firm.

When I look at that arsenal badge all I can see is an animal that unfortunately has had to have its back legs replaced by a set of wheels.
  19. True, that is a first that Hibs can rightly lay claim to. Pity for them that when Celtic was founded they poached a whole load of players from Hibs, who have been Celtic's feeder club ever since.

  21. The Scottish Government loan was repayable over something crazy like 20 years, so they still have a long way to go before they finish repaying the tax payers' money. In their last accounts the outstanding amount was £1.38m, down about £70k from the previous accounts. What is now amusing in hindsight, is that as a non Premiership side, we received a grant rather than a loan, so we owe the tax payer nowt.

    U.S. Politics megathread (merged)

Going to ignore most of the usual nonsense here but the Hispanic vote is very much not a monolith. It includes Cuban exiles who have been staunchly Republican since the Bay of Pigs, Hispanic families whose families have been here for centuries, Hispanic families that just got here, and so forth. And Mexican Americans don't like Guatemalans, and neither of them like Haitians (that can at least be a bit down to racism). Puerto Ricans either want statehood or independence, and are more worried about that than immigration. Why the disdain for Biden? Because groceries and housing are too expensive right now and wage growth has just now finally caught up to inflation over the last couple of years, so folks have been hurting for a while. One can argue how much of that is COVID, how much is Biden, and how much is the GOP in Congress blocking anything and everything that might help. But Biden's unpopularity is down to the economy and that comes through loud and clear in every poll. No need to make it complicated.
  25. A good point, Rob. They're also creaming themselves at the fantasy of Foley splashing his billions on their 5h1tey wee club.

    U.S. Politics megathread (merged)

I'm not going to go over old ground here, but I'll summarize my position very briefly: Trump is a disgraceful human being who is unfit for political office, and Biden is your typical self-serving politician. It's incredible that the Presidential election has come down to this.
